The way patches have been going lately I wait a week for other people to encounter all the problems first, anyway.

I don't know why they took away the advanced notice, but it's probably related to the abolition of the TwC Group. That's not a good sign.

So... maybe the end of the Advanced Notices is really a recognition that the patch releases themselves are actually the new form of 'advanced notice' to those increasing numbers of users who cautiously wait for others to first test out the patches... and those early-adopters will most likely "adopt" anyway, with or without notice. Hmmm...
