[TV] Fox Announces Reboot The X-Files Mulder And Scully To ReturnFox has announced that due to the popularity of 24s return to air that they plan on bringing back another series: The X-Files. This was confirmed by Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman, who says that theyre in talks to bring back Chris Carters supernatural drama.
However, fellow chairman Dana Walden stated that they are in the logistics phase, basically seeing when everyone can line up for this return. That means theyre waiting on Carter, David Duchovny, and Gillian Anderson, who is currently set to appear in Season 3 of NBCs Hannibal.
So, right now there is no confirmed date but it sounds likes Fox wants to do this the right way and bring back everyone and everything that made the show so special and something that the fans love. |

I don't see why Duchovny would want to return, as he wanted off the original series. Anderson has a few projects going, so I dunno if she'll have time for an X-files series.
I'd be up for an X-files movie, if that movie stayed with the roots of the show. Unlike the second X-files movie.
What I'd like to see if Carter's project Afterward get picked up by someone. Now that Amazon killed it.
Note: If restarting X-files [I can't see how they'd reboot it], maybe Duchony and Anderson could have a guest role, and instead there be a new team of investigators, inside and out the government. Carrying on the work of exposing government cover ups. |

said by Boricua:Why the frack can't they leave well enough alone? Because we currently live in a TV/movie age where rebootsand sequels are preferred because the producers already know it will be a hit. They don't want to waste money on brand new concepts - too risky. |

...agree with all, "why," and "why can't they do something original" instead of rehashing/rebooting/reimaging/re-anything these days?
Why don't they just bring back The Lone Gunmen spinoff? [/rhetorical]

No no no. Not lone Gunman. A safe bet would be another law and order, or CSI spin off. |

I wouldn't watch anything with Duchovny ever again and Gillian is already on another Brit cop show [forget the name]. |

Being a big fan of the original since the pilot aired (I think I still have it somewhere on VHS), I know that I'd watch.
I just hope that Chris Carter can get the rest of the old group together, writers and directors included, to do it right. |
