[WIN7] WMP being deleted by MS Updates???

Someone has posted in a W7 Usenet group today ... that his Windows media player has disappeared after his latest updates. He says when he tried to reinstall it, he gets messages that WMP is not compatible with his system, and a chat agent told him to update to 8.1.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is the only way to avoid it, to stop installing any of their updates?

Glad to hear it! He has what I have, the Home Premium x64.

He was given several links for help, and has just replied that he was able to get WMP reinstalled, but I'm not sure if his problems are solved yet.

I think I'll hold off a little longer on my this month's updates.

Thanks, for the feedback, hopefully his experience is unique to his system.

I have a computer with Windows 7 Home Premium x64, the latest Windows updates, and Windows Media Player is present.

Thanks, Norman! Now, I'll probably do my updates next weekend and see what happens, since I haven't seen anyone else posting about this problem over there or here.

Thanks, all feedback is appreciated. My confidence is building.

The last thing I want is a problem with my updates, because I've accumulated quite a few.
