Water Leak in Server Room

It's a bad day when a pipe breaks in a server room.

Bad day indeed. One of the projects I'm working on involves moving the "fire sprinkler test room" to a room that is not shared by the MPOE.

The dangers of ceiling tiles (can't see what is above it and people forget about what is up there).

More information on the break, it was a hot water pipe that froze, not sure if it was domestic, or heating related: »www.wcs.edu/infocus/2015 ··· e-break/

A properly engineered "data center" does not have water pipes running overhead. (other than fire suppression, as I told one building engineer, "if there's water coming out of it, then my stuff under it is on fire.")

That said, the one we inherited (built a decade ago) does have a water line overhead -- the feed to humidifiers -- and huge water pipes from the building chiller under the floor. (and yes, there are leak detectors. and a floor drain.)
