Chromecast with HDML capable projector

Has anyone out there tried and had any success with using something like a chromecast directly connected to the HDMI of a projector?

I am trying to get the funds together to get a projector for summertime outdoor use for movies and such and would rather not have to lug out Roku or laptop to hook to it.

i dont see why it would not work the same as it would for a TV.
you will need a good wifi signal outdoors though.

Yep. I have an outdoor ap to cover my yard. So that is not an issue. Will just have to make sure the projector has an audio out that will pull the HDMI audio.

Keep in mind chromecast does not have audio out jack.

Which is why I stated in my last post:

"Will just have to make sure the projector has an audio out that will pull the HDMI audio."

If it doesn't, try a audio extractor. One below is decent, but there are some that are smaller and/or cheaper. Is aim of project something portable?
