U-verse and Vonage problemWe are having constant issues with our Vonage and U-verse. Internet connectivity drops for all computers when we get a call.
I am looking into adding a good router to eleminate the U-verse Router/Modem as the source of the problem. My thinking is that using a purchased router will give me more control with the traffic.
Question: To do this, I think I will have to call ATT to change the Broadband Router into a Gateway device only. Other threads mention tier2 phone number but I don't see it in the sticky threads.
Any advice on this? |

No need to call anyone at AT&T. Depending on which modem you have, you need to put your 3rd party router into DMZ+ or IP-Passthru mode via the Configuration GUI of your modem, to give your Router the public IP
For kicks and giggles, do you have a phone plugged directly into your Vonage device, or are you backfeeding Vonage Dial Tone back thru your phone jacks?
Also, are you using hard wired internet, or WiFi? And if WiFi, are you using cordless phones or wall/desk corded phones? And if Cordless, is/are the handset(s) 2.4 GHz, or 1.9 GHz/Dect 6.0, or 5.8 GHz |
