Rauner Budget Speech

Listening to the Rauner presentation.

Wow, Rauner makes Quinn look even more stupid than he appeared before. Rauner is putting out actual numbers, figures, cuts, etc. No populist BS posturing, etc. Rauner is talking like a CEO during an earnings report and saying things that not everyone is going to like. The truth is refreshing.

He can say all he wants. Getting it passed and approved is completely different.

True. There's little doubt that the deck is stacked against him because of the D controlled house and senate. On the other hand, listening to someone talk that doesn't sound like he's mildly, mentally challenged, is very pleasant. Regardless of how badly the D's try to screw him over, he'll be better for Illinois that Quinn ever was or could have been.

I think we finally have a good governor. It only took 14-15 years.

I don't know who I trust less CEO's or politicians, and honestly it doesn't matter. I am with VegasMan on this. Anything he says is fine getting it passed is a different story.

From my thinking, Rauner doesn't need the job and he's not a career politician. Maybe, just maybe, he'll want to do good just to be doing good.

Getting anything past that crook Madigan will be difficult.

I'm going to try and find a transcript of the speech tonight and read it from front to back and I'll form an opinion after that.

Your right he doesn't need the job, but that doesn't mean squat.

It doesn't HAVE to mean squat, but it very well could.

This is a new paradigm for Illinois. I thought Quinn would have done a good job (his brother is very intelligent--I was interviewed by him as one of my first jobs out of law school), but Quinn didn't pan out too well.

I'm hopeful now that Rauner will be better I'm an optimist at heart and I believe a businessman is the only person that can make Illinois better. Quinn certainly made it much worse.
