So the SSD on my MacBook

Could the SSD be causing some issues with certain apps not working properly?

Primarily screen shot capturing apps.

No matter what app I try to use, after capturing a screen shot, the app fails. Or I can't actually capture the shot. And yep, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the apps.

But the native Mac way of doing screen capturing works fine.

Should I be enabling Trim on the SSD? And if so, what exactly will that do? Will I erase anything in the process? ..is it even needed?

is it third party?

TRIM is hilariously important.

TLDR version. If you have a chalkboard, you just have to erase where you wrote, not the entire surface area of the board.

hmm...ok. So what steps should I take in order to enable trim?

MVM,

You do know about Google, right?

»www.cindori.org/software ··· enabler/

First result for "Trim OS X"

That being said, TRIM is not your problem. Your OS is likely corrupted.

Nah never heard of it. Goo..gle you say? What is this Goo...gle?

So your expert opinion is the freshly installed OS is corrupt. Is that what I'm reading here? Or do you want me to Google that question about your opinion on the matter?

Shot in the dark here,...

Try repairing permissions,...?

Honestly this is an odd one to me and I'm no expert so don't shoot the messenger,...

Yeah, I tried that yesterday. There were some errors that where repaired. Those errors though where showing as printer related. Nothing that would have pertained to the names of the apps.

And I believe Mike See Profile asked about if they're 3d party. If referring to the apps, yes those would be 3rd party.

So downloaded the Trim Enabler Thinkdiff See Profile posted...should I crank it up?

TRIM has its merits so I don't think it would hurt to have TRIM support enabled. I don't think TRIM has anything to do with your problem directly though.

I have a number of different SSD units installed on different systems some of which are Macs.

I have one Kingston SNV425 model that does very well in a RAID 0 array without TRIM support over reasonably long periods of time. So the necessity of TRIM can kind of depend on the model of SSD (attributes like its controller and garbage collection),...

are you experiencing any other odd behavior on said Mac?

What model SSD are you using?

Version of OS X,...?

Do the applications that are having issues have updates for the version of OS X that you're running,...?

Not 100% sure I'd know where to look within the Logs to be sure of what's happening.

The native tools are too limited for what I would use screen shots for.

Safe boot then normal reboot immediately afterwards. Safe boot does a Disk Repair.

You might want to run Apple's hardware diagnostics. That might reveal something.

Whelp, I fixed the issue. It had to be something with the app's files and everything related to it.

I copied all the app's files (plist, folders pretty much anything and everything related to it) from the working version on the HDD and pasted them all in their respected locations on the SSD.
To my surprise, it actually worked. I don't know why that made it work, nor why it worked at all. But it did.
Thanks for all the tips. I also enabled Trim on the SSD. I'm hoping that allows for the drive to have extended life.
