Cut flush, tape. Use side screws and wrap. Backstabs should be illegal. All they do is cut the installation time down. Over time, they release the hot or neutral (or both) out the back. After I replaced most of my outlets with newer, Lutrons, I saw no more issues with GFI or lighting. (I have to thank the HVAC installer that left after using an outside outlet for freon pump...then everything on that circuit was an issue. Opened the outside box after finding neutral failed tester, backstabs popped off).
IMHO, ditch the CFL and go with LEDs. Get warm white.

Oh I love to get LEDs. But they're still too pricey per bulb.
