Re: Video "skipping"Yes, it seems to affect everyone and according to VZKid, who has always been reliable, it will be fixed March 15th. |

Yea, i live in New Castle Delaware,19720. It's been going on on my tv's, past couple of weeks. Has finally become an annoyance. |

I just noticed this for the first time tonight on NHL Network maybe because i watch very little live TV. My family has told me they've seen it on the other two tv's though. Glad i was able to tell them tonight a fix is coming. |

It has to be on their side. Server-side, so to speak.
I would highly doubt that all Quantum and 7xxx boxes be randomly rebooted to fix this.
Since people with 7xxx boxes have this Bug, as well.
Finally we are not the only ones with a bug or two, lol. |
|
|
Haha yeah, i wonder what caused it though? I mean the 7xxx boxes were last update a few months ago and this just started recently. |

I just saw this on my end. Actually saw it once the other day and just figured it was a glitch, but then I saw it again today. Video skips backwards for 1-2 seconds. Whats interesting is I have an Amazon Firetv that I watch the WWE network on. I would see the same video skip back issues on their live feeds. I switched ethernet cables for it the other day which seemed to fix it, but it's weird how I'm now seeing the same issue just not as often with Fios tv. |

I've noticed this issue the last few days. Additionally, while watching live TV, if I pause (or rewind a few minutes) and then begin playback again, after a few moments it will skip ahead to the current live time. The only way to avoid this is to record the show and play it back on the DVR. |

I have this problem in VHO5 as well. I have a two VMS setup. VMS #1 has 4 clients connected, while VMS #2 has no clients connected. Oddly enough, random skipping occurs on VMS 1 and all of the clients, while no skipping occurs on VMS 2. This is a very annoying bug and I hope it is indeed resolved ASAP. I usually don't complain much about these software bugs, but this one is so bad that we really should receive some kind of credit. |

The skipping was really bad today. At 3:20 this afternoon the VMS rebooted on its own and have had no skipping since. |

I was at my sisters today. She has a 7232. I did not notice this Bug on her set.
But that maybe just because of my few hours there. |

I'm in Southern California and my FIOS TV has been skipping for months now. Called out service, they said I had an old splitter and that was the issue. Later that day same skipping and muting while watching TV. Called them back out, they replaced both boxes and STILL DOING IT!!!! Driving us up the wall. I have not renewed their 2 year contract because I'm going to end up switching back to Dish, even though it will cost me more in the end. Sucks that they cannot fix the issue. I've recorded the issue on video to show them but I don't think it will do any good. Scott Mount |

I'm watching theblaze on my fire TV stick that skips too. I'm wondering if it's an Internet issue and not a TV software issue. |

We shall see..... They were clueless to it just a week ago with support, and the actual tech that came out. |

Random HypothesisSo- I Have no idea is this is even remotely possible - but....
So, folks are seeing this "skipping" on all STB's. Is fairly recent.
Recently, VZ introduced new core routers in many areas to help w/ congestion issues.
TV signals are sent from the SHE's to the VHO's / VSO's via similar core routers / servers / backbones. Could perhaps the new routers be affecting the delivery - and 3/15 is when they may be making some type of parameter change?
In my biz - Sat Night / Sunday morning is a key Infrastructure change window.. and the 15th is a Sunday. |

Re: Video "skipping"said by Caliscott :Here's my issue on video. I'm having the exact same issue. Part of the problem is that when you fast-forward through something and then stop it it will sometimes revert back to where you were or skip farther ahead. I think it's all related. Don't bother with more at home service visits.....they need to address something on their end. On a side note - how did you provide the downloadable clip? I did this once when I was having issues and posted my vid to youtube but it was taken down by youtube (copyright issues). |

I didn't think the video to VHOs was delivered over IP. Even if it were, I'd be very surprised if it's delivered over the same fiber network as Internet traffic and not over a private network or point to point link. |

I thought only ondemand and the guides were delivered over ip? |

Has anyone seen the issue on a Tivo or other non-Verizon device? I haven't seen any problems with my Windows Media Center setup using a CableCard, though admittedly I have been watching Netflix more than regular TV for the last few days. Maybe they screwed up something related to how the targeted ads are inserted, which would affect their own boxes but not CableCards. |

All my quantum boxes rebooted this morning but nothing in the system information changed. Except for the 6 tuners, not overly impressed with the setup. Might be time to think about cutting the cord. |

I needed to reboot my IPC box because I was getting so many skip backs.
Before I rebooted, I checked the IPC's RAM. It was 40MB! After the reboot, It was 425ish.
I hope that this is fixed on the 15th. Like VZKid said.
I have a feeling that this makes the Memory Leak Bug even worse. All the skips make the Ram deplete faster. |

The only time I have ever seen the video skip is when opening the guide and that little video window in the corner skips back about 2 seconds. I have never seen a video skip during live TV. |
