NO VOD from desktop?I just "chatted" with a FIOS representative and he said you cannot watch FIOS VOD from a desktop PC (only via the app on mobile devices). Is this true? I always like to validate out here. Seemed odd! |

» tv.verizon.com/networksYou have to be signed in with your FIOS account or it will not display the VOD. |

I was signed in. I see the VOD rentals out there. When I click on it, it says I have to "authorize the device" but support tells me the only way I can do that is through the app (which I cannot get on a desktop). Sound right? |

For some reason, authorization/deauthorization is busted via the website. There is a link that is supposed to work but it doesn't connect to the authorization server - it goes somewhere else. I have a Blu-Ray player that is authorized but I have to deauthorize it from an app on a smartphone or tablet. I only access the free TV streaming stuff and the premium channels I'm subscribed to, via the PC. No pay VOD. |

BTW when I click on the Gear Icon at "http://tv.verizon.com/" and then select My Devices it shows I have a couple of PC Web Browser's Authorized. Keep in mind I authorized them a long time ago so your issue may be something new. |

I'm not sure if it is considered VOD, but I am unable to watch full episodes of shows on various broadcater's websites such tbs.com, fox.com or adultswim.com.
You are supposed to be able to authenticate as being a "cable subscriber" on these sites, but when I do it (clicking on Verizon FiOS and entering my password for the Verizon site) it just comes back to the original video page and nothing has changed. It's been like this for months.
I was going to call Verizon about it, but I don't expect to get far... |

I was going to call Verizon about it, but I don't expect to get far... One thing I found out is that you have to set your browser to accept third-party cookies. If you don't, you will get authentication errors with FiOS TV affiliates. It usually shows up as a small pop-up window (that is difficult to navigate) that asks you to sign in again. When you do, it loops back to the same username and password screen. Another possibility is that you may be one of the customers who has fallen afoul of V's (unannounced) online account consolidation effort - it's been going on for a couple months. You may have to go through setting up additional security questions to "reaffirm" your online Verizon account. I spent about four hours on the phone w/ a technical CSR (not your normal account type) and came up empty, even after redoing my login stuff. I discovered the third-party cookies thing on my own. What I will say is that the CSR called me back, a few days after my initial contact with him, and asked me if I'd had any success. It old him about the cookie business and he sort of did a forehead slap, saying he should have remembered that. |

If I turn off 3rd party cookies, I cannot log into sites like HBOGO or other premiums I'm subscribed to. In addition, I cannot watch streaming network TV from my FiOS account page (which seems to be screwed up ATM anyway - I'm getting errors on all my 'puters). I then have to spend a few minutes killing the unwanted cookies and resetting to not accept 3rd party invaders after I'm done - it sucks! The first pic is where my HBOGO login hangs if I do not have 3rd party cookies enabled. The second one shows a successful login where they are enabled and I can play selections... I can demonstrate this, at will on both WXP and W7 Pro machines, using Firefox. I DO NOT use IE unless there is a gun pointed at my head... |

IE will work properly for the authentication process. |

I spent some time in Verizon online chat and two things came up:
1) I had to agree to the "Terms of Service" at activate.verizon.net (apparently I did not do that, or I had to re-do it)
2) It works with a current version of Internet Explorer, but not with Firefox. So I assume this is the third party cookie issue?
To be honest, I did not try IE before contacting Verizon and then accepting the TOS, so I have no idea if accepting the TOS really did anything to make it start working on IE.
Anyway, does anyone know how I can set up Firefox to get this working? I looked up how to manage third-party cookies on Firefox, but every page I find points me to the "Privacy" section in the options, but my Firefox (latest version) doesn't have the same options as are shown on those pages.
UPDATE: OK, it looks like my Firefox on my laptop does not have the options for third-party cookies (not sure why), but my desktop does and it is already set to accept third party cookies and it still does not work. |

Here are some pix. The first shows what I get if I try to watch VOD. It just locks up at that screen. The second shows the screen where you'd go to authorize a device (note the PC is not listed). The third is what happens when I click "authorize device". It's looking for some code that apparently you can only get through a mobile app setup. |

OK update...just got it to "authorize a device" using Internet Explorer...not chrome. See THIS is EXACTLY why I post on these boards. A VZ employee told me this was not possible. UGH!!! |
