Peace out NOLA, hello VirigniaWell, some of y'all probably have noticed that I haven't been on in a few weeks. I have been bouncing between New Orleans and Richmond, Virginia. I also have been burning a lot of vacation time with the City enjoying life, playing with the two kids, etc.
Anyways, I am leaving NOLA for good. Taking the family up to Richmond, VA to start a new IT job with a private company.
Last week was my first real encounter with snow. I am sure the glamor will wear off but damn, I had fun. So used to swamp and mosquitoes.
Anyways, my last day in country (cause this place is a world of its own) is End of March. Any points for the Virginia area? Any DSLR'ers up thataways? |

Housing 3X more expensive, cold weather will lose it fun in about a week, much more tech employment, enjoy! |

Wife has nailed the housing. I think we are good there. Yeah, I don't think the cold is going to last. |

'bout an hour west of you in Charlottesville here. Congrats on the move. My only advice is remember that radar detectors are illegal and you really don't want to get caught speeding, especially in that perpetual work zone on 64 in your neck of the woods. |

I just got back from the old dominion. I lived there for 3 years but it was over 10 years ago, man things changed a lot (e.g. taxes, housing prices and etc.) but it was good to see snow again and feel real cold weather. |

The only point I can think of for VA is the radar detector one already mentioned (but as a former cop I wonder if you already knew that one? lol). I'm not up there but I do have family in Forest, VA so does that count? Good luck on your move. |

The only advise I have is that in VA for whatever reason they are really strict on traffic citations. Many infractions that would be minor everywhere else are misdemeanors in VA. My wife has a misdemeanor for an illegal u-turn from there. 20+ mph over can get you jail time.
Other than that, job opportunities are great there and I wish you the best of luck! |

Congrats Sorry to see ya go.
Glad someone got out. Congrats on the new job too! I've never been to Virginia, so can't really give you any advice. Although I wouldn't doubt if your auto insurance dropped by half. Fuggin' Louisiana insurance

Any chance before you leave LA you can make them pay me back the $105.75 that the state of LA cost me? That state sure is annoying about a little speeding. |

You got off easy! 20 over in Missouri STARTS at $222. Don't speed in construction zones here. My only ticket ever was for 20 over...$425 after the lawyer got done with it. » www.courts.mo.gov/file.j ··· ?id=2647 |

Oh the $105 wasn't the ticket its a fee Texas imposed on me because LA didn't notify them it was cleared up.
Because LA made a request to TX in the first place. |

Damn. So Texas took a cut of your Louisiana problem too? Well, if you want to make Louisiana your new home, I know of a Sys Admin Specialist III position opening up. |

Ya I paid Louisiana like $200 (thinks to a pal of mine at the time calling his friends in the Louisiana state government) (otherwise it would have been like $500) But by the time Louisiana processed it they had already told TX so then TX suspended my lic for a few days and charged me a reinstatement fee. (all because TX DPS at the time only had crap options for submitting the proof.) |

I am flying into Bristol tomorrow for my great aunts 100th bday. I am dreading the cold. I am looking forward to eating a saucy burger, frenchy fry, and big tea from » palsweb.com/ . Good luck in VA. |
