Wow, those prices actually suck compared to all the TPIAs out there. Nice low caps on the 30/5 (which makes no sense) PLUS the added bonus of the conveniently don't mention all the installation charges. Doing the Bell trick of pay one price, then another. And don't kid yourself; this does not stop the every 6 month price increase that Rogers has been doing for the last 4 years. |

Hmm, no more unlimited options? |

Looks like they have canned the lite internet tier as well. That 100/10 looks like a good speed package. Hopefully we can get that tier approved for TPIA and 8x4 modems! |

Anyone know how a current customer would get on the new pricing? The 250/20 unlimited tier just went down by $30 a month... |

well, this is in conjunction with the new price guarantee on all services if you sign on a 2 year bundle contract. Also, outside of edge cases, it got cheaper for more people and more expensive for a few. The people who use the internet for streaming and downloading certainly have it cheaper now than before.
Also, the install fee was always there. The 14.95 has been there forever. The $50 install being waived though is new.
tmk, you can switch to the new bundles just like you'd switch tv packages. They might ask you to switch your modem though. They got the new CGN3's with wireless AC that come included. Not sure if its a system enforced switch like they did with the old 8x4 modems. |

Well it looks like they've dropped the 8x4 modems as well on these new packages. 'Advanced Wi-Fi Modem rental included' - that's the 24x8 model POS. These new tier prices are friggin' OUTRAGEOUS. Rogers lowest price package is now $64.99 month. That's $73.44/month with tax. $881.28 a year for 30/5 with a 100GB cap. Rogers has gone INSANE. |

Dude, its the same price as yesterday. You get an extra 30gb more on your cap and you get a 24x8 modem too. If you were using the dpc or cgn2 as actual wifi routers, then you got the better cgn3 anyways. People who were planning to sign up on the 10/1 w/ 25gb plan lose out on it, but I don't really see the downside when my own package got $30 cheaper |

They still have $10/month to add unlimited to the 60 package. |

I reached out too. They just got back to me and said they'd look into it. Will report back if I hear anything interesting (whether I'd need to swap modems, how it affects bundled discounts, etc). |

Talking to Billing\Sales now + I doubt they would ask me to rent another modem. *(Since i own one already that is capable of this service)* let see |
|
|
IN ORDER TO GET THE NEWER PACKAGES YOU NEED TO GET THE CGN3ACR I AM ON THE 250/20 PACKAGE AND THEY WOULD NOT UPGRADE ME UNLESS I HAVE UPGRADED TO THE CGN3ACR |

I really hope that sales rep was mistaken. I'm reluctant to switch to the new CGN3ACR based on the teething troubles the CGN3 apparently had, especially with bridge mode :/ |

The point is: There's thousands of people that use the internet for surfing and Email only. Don't want or need to do anything more. Not everyone streams and does whatever. For Rogers to completely ignore this demographic is nuts. These people will now have no choice but to leave Rogers and go TPIA. 30/5 200GB is $45/month at Start. Don't know what else to say. $64.99/month for a Rogers basic internet connection is flat out criminal in anyone's books. |

Yeah, I guess I phrased that question really badly What I really meant to ask was are there any known caveats with switching (like requiring a new modem). Probably should think for a bit longer before hitting "post" next time! |

The two top tiers look decent but everything else not so much.
i'm on hybrid 60 right now and already paying close to what the new packages offers but with 120GB less a month as i'm on 320GB cap.
And i'm on a CGN2 which I plan to replace with the CGN3 none ACR model.
I already used my own router. |

I just tried to change my 150\15 plan (With my own modem) to 250\20.
i CAN use my own modem, CGN3, it will work, but, for some reason (they are not sure if this is error in the system) they are unable to remove modem rental fee from the price, so, in the end, they require to pay full price.
I just spoke to the manager of the store i purchased Modem from, he is gonna refund the money for it, and i will get ACR once its in stock (few days) - and in the end, i will be having faster speed, for less money, i can live with this. |

So they got back to me and told me that I could "upgrade" from my current 250/20 unlimited plan to the new 250/20 unlimited plan for the low low price of only paying an extra $40 a month!
...
Some back story here: when I ordered this service back in December I asked them what the best deal they could offer me was. They said that because I was already a Rogers Wireless customer, they could offer me cable tv + internet + existing mobile phone for less than the cost of just internet + mobile phone, as the bundling discount was more than the cost of basic cable tv. Obviously, I took it.
Now they're saying that to switch to the new price tier, I'd lose my bundling discount. Sigh. Time to phone in, I guess. |

Just switched over. The bottom line according to the CSR that I spoke with, is that Rogers has removed the internet service and modem rental separation. Its one single cost now, no matter if you own your own modem or not. So, its still cheaper now for unlimited, regardless of what modem you use, your own CGN3 or renting the newer AC version. It they have managed to fix the ping times, it might be worth picking one up as there is no additional cost for it. Food for thought..... |

But can we still use the CGN3 with 250u or not? |

Just got off the phone with Rogers. They have now made the account changes for me, I don't need to change my modem to the new CGN3ACR, so that's good. The deal with my bundle was that my bundle discount explicitly referenced "Hybrid Fibre" as the only eligible internet package that it could be used with, so with the new "Ignite" branding they couldn't keep that bundle. Easily enough sorted, I cancelled the cable TV that I never wanted in the first place.. They gave me the three month promotional pricing of $70 for the next three months, and thereafter it'll jump to $95 a month. |
