DSL Reports has a new Speedtest

Got a PM from Justin letting me know about this, I figured most of us on Canadian Broadband do these fairly regularly.

Here's the link:

»/speedtest

He's looking for more member tests in order to do some troubleshooting.

Upgraded to 250/20 on cable today.. this test is showing is 16.59 down (way too low) and 20.13 up. It may be partly to due with the server location but that's still way too low given I get at least 215 down on speedtest.net

250/20? Are you on TPIA or Rogers.

It didn't not work well for me. It showed 9-10 Mbps download vs speedtest.net correctly reporting 50 Mbps. Two tries with over an hour wait between them.

Tested on a Gbit/s line and only got 25.6 mbit/s down and 90 up. Test also went into an infinite loop on the upload test. Using Google Chrome on Ubuntu.

Speedtest.net shows 900+

It's not accurate yet, I know they're trying to modernize the test, but accuracy should be the first concern.

Justin IM'd me too about that.

The below-linked thread was trending, so I posted there first.

Same here, I'm getting 60Mbps from DSLr, but from Speedtest.net I'm getting about 149-150Mbps

Justin shed some light on why that most likely is happening, over in the other thread.

It does not like Noscript, as it comes up with a new address (to be approved) every time the test is attempted.

Works fine with IE thought.

Edit - I see that's already been reported.

Getting an error when I run it in Chrome (I usually use Firefox, but already noted noscript issue).

"27.2 (19) upload start with 12283333 bytes
36.6 (28) upload 12283333 done in 8882.5 ms mbit=11.062951196172248
46.6 (38) calling xhr guard
51.6 (43) data transfer terminated
51.6 (43) upload stalled or timed out before receipt at 100%
51.6 (43) Total megabytes used: 101.3
"

The upload test seemed to be going fine until saying it failed.

Ping his much, much higher than speedtest, or real world gaming gives me. And download on the low side of other tests. Could be the low number of servers. Depending on where it is in MI, could be far or lots of hops.

I'm going to agree here, I'm testing Michigan from Toronto, I usually do Toronto or Hamilton with Speedtest.net
