Win7 64bit update caused the side panel and all gadgets to go byeSince the 3/10/15 update, the side panel and all gadgets are gone. Some were ms and some were from other companys. After the 13 updates were installed the side bar is missing. Now when I try to reload the gadgets are not there. WTF did MS do now? My computer is win7 64bit home premium, 6GB of mem, i3 2450 processor, 640 GB HD. |

I found the update that caused the problem. Windows6.1-KB3046049-x64.msu . Don't download update, it will wipe out the win7 sidebar and gadgets. This took me hours to find out how sneaky MS is. |

Do we really need to bring up how gadgets were considered a security threat before and advised to discontinue their use, or did you not know? |

Strange. This didn't happen to me when I got that update. I still have all my gadgets. I read this thread after I had got all my updates, and decided to uninstall KB3046049 for now just in case...but will look into it more. |

I guess that this will be moved to Security, but thanks for the heads up on this. I don't want to lose the only gadget I have which is the MS CPU/Memory Usage Gadget. |

This has to do with the moderator not visiting here today and moving the post to Microsoft forum. |

Microsoft didn't do anything. I have the update installed and gadgets are running away. Something else is up if your gadgets are no longer functional. |
