Michael Geist adds some context: 2 years ago, Dwayne Winseck received information about similar meddling, around the time Verizon was on the political agenda. » www.michaelgeist.ca/2015 ··· ecision/ |

Oh, this is gold...
I hope the CRTC sees the monster's they've created, by letting these companies buy out tv stations and manipulate the news. |

How much does anyone want to bet that there are general standing orders to never show the parent company in a bad light on newscasts? |

Geist also pointed out: "Crull is the same Bell executive who earlier this month called for the blocking of U.S. channels and for new measures to make it more difficult for Canadians to access U.S. Netflix." |

I've also noticed recently that Bell has been heavily influencing CTV's news reporting. I remember a couple weeks back when the CRTC ruled that US Advertising is allowed to be broadcasted during the Super Bowl, CTV had a 5-minute highly-opinionated Report on how this is a horrible move. They also had a heavily-biased poll indicating that 70% of Canadians disagreed with the decision and supported Bell's advertising. They had this broadcasted during the evening news. I was disgusted when I saw this since the report was complete commentary, but they were trying to pass it as legitimate news. Edit: Here was the report: » www.ctvnews.ca/business/ ··· .2260270They also reported this entire 6-minute segment during the 6:00 news: » www.bnn.ca/Video/player. ··· d=542085 (Really... have no time for real reporting on issues? you need to show a 6-minute rant by Kevin O'Leary?) I'm starting to notice how much Bell is placing their issues into CTV's reporting. |

Good thread droidman4 How long do you predict it will take for the Bell-backed anon-trolls to show up and start complaining about how unfair these allegations are? |

One aspect of what it means to be a professional is to, during the work day, take on the value system of your employer, and make the decisions they would make. Call it self censorship? It is absurd that we've allowed this vertical integration. It is absurd that we've allowed so few companies to own so much of the industry. Oh well |

BCE owns 15% of the G&M, and Kevin Crull is on the G&M board of directors. |

I figured this was happening on bell owned stations.
I mean how much UBB coverage or anything did those stations report?
0% .. just like global news reports about shaw price hikes 0% was shown. Price hikes, or changes affecting Canadians is a great new story , but these stations don't pick them up when it has to do with their owners
time for change? wishful thinking. but Bells reputation just keeps going down hill
Popcorn, comfy chair.. and watching! |

Crull makes case for functional separation Surprisingly, there will be no film at 11 about this because Dear Mini Me Crull doesn't want it on the news.
One word, Kevin: Resign.

Whats the point of resigning. They'd just put an equivalent minion in his place. |

If Crull had any sense of decency about him, he'd resign. I'm certain that he won't be fired as a result of this - and if that's the case, it only points to the absolute moral corruption from the Board of Directors on down @ Bell. |
