Fan Running Loud and IncessantlyI have the Motorola set up box model 7216. Worked well for years, but I woke up this morning and the fan was going non-stop and very loud. Tried all the fixes suggested on FIOS forum (dimming LED etc) but nothing worked. This is a known problem, so I guess I have to have the box replaced. What concerns me is that many have reported this, received boxes with the same problem. Any thoughts on the current situation with these boxes? Thanks |

I would say if you need to replace it, intensely request a 7232 STB, instead of another 7216. I personally would not want another 7216 model, if it is a known issue with them. |

Had the same problem a few months ago. Tried what you did to no avail. Called Verizon to have the box replaced - they sent a 7232. Problem solved. |

There is no way to request a certain model DVR you get what comes to you. |

Fans do get louder over time. Probably just got enough it was running all the time. |

VzKid,
I humbly say:
That maybe that is the case with Legacy STBs. But I would think there would be no harm in at least asking for a different box. However, given one's STB arrangement, that might not be so nice to receive.
For Example: If a Quantum customer's STB failed, and was sent a Legacy STB, that is not good. From what I understand, and was told at the time I ordered the Quantum boxes, that they are NOT coexistant with the Legacy boxes, and vise versa. Except for the Digital Adapters.
I hope you can see where I am coming from.

Yes of course I am. I hope your issue gets resolved sooner than later. |
