[Connectivity] BootfileAnyone recognize that bootfile version? Obviously no problem with blast service but what happened to d11_m_sb6141_speedtierextreme2_c01.cm ? |

Boot Version is not your config file. |

Thanks. Any idea where I can see the config file with the 6141? |

Not sure if this link will work for your 6141. It works for my 6183. » 192.168.100.1/RgCmConfig ··· tion.asp |

NET-DK/1.0 Error: 404 Not Found
Could have sworn I saw it somewhere in the past 2 1/2 years. Maybe my rust is showing. |

If I understand your question, you are comparing apples to oranges. The Boot Version you posted is the true "boot file" and it is part of the device firmware. The d11_m_sb6141_speedtierextreme2_c01.cm file is the config file that is dynamically loaded every time the modem reboots. It is sometimes called a boot file, but it is a config file that tells the modem what speed tier to support, blocks certain ports, etc -- it is not the executable file that actually loads the modem's OS from the firmware. That file (or whatever file Comcast currently uses for your speed tier and modem) is still present inside your modem, but the firmware code just does not provide an easy way for the customer to see it. The only time I see it in my SB6121 logs is if a firmware update is attempted/done (as shown in the log excerpt below):

Thanks very much for that. Cleared it up 100% I knew I had seen it in the past but obviously not since whichever firmware update is now hiding it. Led to me groping around and mis-applying terms. |

FWIW, depending on the firmware coding of that modem, you may be able to see the config file name among the error log entries after you reset all defaults and reboot it using the clickable buttons in the user interface pages. YMMV. |

Worth a shot but there are no user configurable settings so resetting all defaults is a redundancy.
But, for the sake of science i'll do it. |

It makes the modem re-range for / re-learn all of the supplied parameters so it's NOT a "redundancy".. It worked for me everytime when I had an SB6121. |

Guess that they now have it disabled in the firmware code, sorry. |

Did you do the complete factory reset and not just a standard reboot? |
|
|
said by Jim721:Did you do the complete factory reset and not just a standard reboot? Yeah, mike34 needs to do a "reset to factory defaults" in order for the CMTS to re-push the latest config file to the modem. Then there should be a line in the log file like this: "SW Download INIT - Via Config file d11_m_sb6141_speedtierextreme2_c01.cm" |

Read Netfixer's and EG's responses. It's all covered. To wit:
The current firmware pushed by Comcast has eliminated any user accessible reference to a config file. |

So what kind of a reset did you do? When a "reset to factory defaults" is performed, the modem will revert to its original factory-installed version of firmware (and no config file?), causing the CMTS to push the latest Comcast-approved version (and the proper config file) to your modem once again. |

Reset to Factory Defaults |
OK, yes, that is the "Factory" reset. So there's nothing about the config file download in the log file after that? |

said by telcodad:So there's nothing about the config file download in the log file after that? Nope, the log is wiped clean and three lines added upon reboot but no reference to a config file. Matter of fact that reset defaults doesn't behave as documented. It takes a few seconds, not 5 to 30 minutes, and the firmware is not reset at all. Nothing is pushed to the modem on restart. |

This isn't something new that occurred after a firmware update. The config file hasn't been shown on the 6120, 6122, and 6141 for years, if ever, except for when the modem is provisioned upon initial activation, a firmware update occurs, or you call in and change your speed package, as others have said. |

I've honestly only seen what you've described occur on the 6183 where the modem restarts, downloads the config or firmware file with the upstream and downstream lights flashing blue in sync, the modem restarts again, and everything is operating correctly. |
