EDIMAX AC600 Adapter doesn't see 5GHz Network

My Network:
ASUS RT-AC87R router
Firmware - Merlin 376.48_1
5GHz band:
Wireless Mode - auto
Channel Bandwidth - 80 MHz (also tried 40 MHz)
Control Channel - auto (also tried 161)
Extension Channel - auto
Authentication Method - WPA2 - Personal
WPA Encryption - AES

Laptop: Dell Studio - 1747
OS - Win7 64-bit
Internal adapter - Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN

EDIMAX EW-7811UTC AC600 adapter
Newest drivers installed

*EDIMAX adapter sees my 2.4GHz network but not the 5GHz network. My internal adapter can see my 5GHz band as normal. Internal adapter is disabled when trying to use the EDIMAX. I have no idea where to go from here.

Thanks!

Two immediate things to try :

- try another known 5Ghz router OTHER than the AC87R.
- try another EDIMAX AC600, in case your existing one is faulty.

Question, over the Intel adapter, you can connect to the AC87R without issue, correct?

I have no issue connecting to the 5GHz band with my internal adapter.

Try a lower channel such as 36,40,44,48 in the 5GHz range some client adapters have issues with the higher frequencies and they are also affected by the DFS / TPC and SRD protocols.

Will do and let you know. Thank you!

Got it with these settings:
Frequency: 5GHz
Channel Bandwidth: 80MHz
Control Channel: 48

You are awesome!!!!

Now I can experiment a tad now.

Ok, anything above Control Channel 48 will not work.

After all this, it chokes under load. I guess you get what you pay for. Cheap...cheap!!!! LOL!
