quote:The Flash Film Lands LEGO Movie Writers Will They Direct?
DC Comics fans hoping to see Barry Allen don his scarlet suit as The Flash on the big screen may have been kept waiting as the speedster found acclaim on The CW, but its seeming more and more likely that the wait may be worth it in the end. The casting of Ezra Miller (Trainwreck) in the role took many by surprise, but his addition to WBs shared Justice League universe may be in better hands than fans had hoped.
Rumors had previously teased that Phil Lord and Chris Miller (responsible for 21 Jump Street, as well as writing and directing The LEGO Movie) were being courted to helm The Flashs solo film by the studio, but now comes confirmation that the pair are currently developing the films story but have yet to decide whether theyll direct the feature as well.
The update comes courtesy of Deadline, who report that aside from writing the script for The LEGO Movie 2 and producing the LEGO Batman spinoff, Lord & Miller are currently developing a story treatment for The Flash. The news helps to clarify the situation somewhat: since Warner Bros. has landed the minds behind their wildly successful LEGO franchise to bring The Flash to the big screen, they would no doubt be the studios top choice to direct.
What? They want this as a comedy?
Scheduled release 2018, starring Ezra Miller. DC really needs to learn from Marvel.
I am just not holding out much hope for these DC Justice League movies. I hope they're good because I generally like the DC universe over the Marvel one (although I love both), but their decisions regarding these movies are questionable to me at face value.
That said Flash always came across to me as more light hearted tone-wise than most of his DC counterparts so maybe this makes sense.
But less serious than Batman, Wonderwoman, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Hawk-Man, etc. He has a quick wit (no pun intended) and a good sense of humor, making jabs and jokes. I can see how guys that wrote the Lego movie might do a good job in a movie with that kind of tone.
Jay Garrick was more serious than Barry Allen. Barry Allen wisecracked, but was more serious than Wally West. Wally West was a supreme smartass, but still more mature than Bart Allen. Bart Allen is Bart Allen.
Depends which Flash. Barry Allen, kinda a bit, but not so much. Wally West, supreme smartass. That's why I felt that Ryan Reynolds would've made a much better Wally West than he did Hal Jordan.
