Re: [complaint] New speed test...

said by bbrcat:

Yes,both. I tried each on WiFi...same thing happens.

So that eliminates the PC, the server, we're left with your router/modem or your IP address.

Does the test always work with one stream?
(I know it sometimes works with more).
Does it seem to you like the more parallel streams, the less chance it has of working?

Is the error always 13 or sometimes error 11 ?
(error 11 is some streams started, but many did not.).

I'll write a small test page that will experiment with 1 2 4 8 downloads, and send you a link in the next day or two.

The one stream tests have been successful only a couple of times. The errors are usually # 11, but # 13 has shown up a couple of times too.

Thanks again for all your help Justin...much appreciated !

have you done a failed test in the last 30 minutes?
i changed to log failures like yours, and am curious to know if I get the log after the alert shows. I want to know how many others get the same message.

Ok so that is your problem.

You can't visit any web pages that are not on port 80.

Is that a setting you have in your modem / firewall? Port 8000 and 8080 is not uncommon. I know some corporate network block anything but port 80. But it is pointless to block outgoing ports for home use.

There is an option you can set in preferences "only use port 80" then it should all work. But ideally, you should not have to set that..

I never adjusted any firewall settings, but found what you referenced and was able to make the change. Speed test ran fine this morning. Thanks so much for all the help !

Guess I'm really not sure. I was able to add allowance(or remove) for ports 8000-8800 as you specified and ran a test earlier.
