Those bastards. V1 has had horrible support since its been released. On 5/3 it will be 5 months since the last firmware release. Still no official OpenWRT support as promised. They have failed to add decent new features that are actually useful. On the other hand. Mine has been rock solid since owning it. Zero issues with it. But, that is not the point. We was promised 3rd party firmware and many features added to stock firmware. |

I agree 100%. It has been since 12/3/14 since we received a firmware update. No official OpenWRT support. However, mine has also been rock solid. The only issue that I've had is that the 5 GHz dropped for me twice since I have owned it. I'm hoping that whatever caused the dropping will be fixed with another firmware update (whenever that will be). I'm still happy with the router though. Dropping connections twice in something like eight months doesn't really bother me. |

Why does Linksys' support page now ONLY have Version 2 firmware. What happened to the Version 1 firmware? » www.linksys.com/us/suppo ··· m=156218 |

EOL? I think its just a glitch, updating the website or getting ready to post a new firmware update. Or it could be the same like V1? The only difference so far. Cpu is 100MHz faster and they got rid of the built in fan. » www.linksys.com/us/suppo ··· m=156194 |

Comparison of v1 and v2 |
You're probably right. Thanks for the link of the comparison. I figured that I would just post the comparison so that anyone can see the differences. Oh, it's also a different power adapter on v2. |

Interesting; they took the fan out on the v2. Why? |

Hard to say since they are under new ownership and policy is unknown. |

Possible that they got V2 to run cooler with out the safety net of the internal fan. Even though I never say the fan turn on ever. Even saw reports of the router being hot and the fan would never turn on. I've learned to use a LT cooler fan place under my router anyways. Safer that way. Also noted that V1 FW support is missing from there site now. I was visable earlier this morning. |

Both v1 and v2 firmware are up on their support site now. v1 still shows the last firmware update from December 2014. |

When I hit the update button, it says Version 1 is the latest version. I tried updating to version 2 manually twice and both times were unsuccessful. Any thoughts? Thanks. Brian |

Brian Hi Brian.....Version 1 is the actual Router version, not the firmware version for your Router. If you have the latest Version 1 firmware, then you have a Version 1 Router, and you have the latest firmware. You do not want to try to load Version 2 firmware on it, as that is for a Version 2 Router. If the Model number does not say v2 on your Router, you have a Version 1. |

Good Lord... I'm glad I didn't buy a WRT1900AC router, or any other Belkin/Linksys products. It's had pathetic 3rd party firmware support, they're just using 'open source' as a marketing buzzword while I doubt anyone in Belkin's marketing department even knows what open source is. Another comparison:
SoC RAM Flash USB Serial eSata v1: Marvell MV78230. 256 MiB 128 MiB 1x2.0, 1x3.0 Yes Yes v2: Marvell Armada 38X 256 MiB 128 MiB 1x2.0, 1x3.0 Yes Yes |

Perhaps (since it looks like it's a different CPU) they've moved to one that doesn't kick out so much heat and therefore doesn't need a fan.
Also, as has been said, reliability. Silent operation is a plus too |

I can connect between 250-350 Mbps with the version 1 at 50ft but beam forming causes driver crashes with the WUSB6300. Windows 8.1 troubleshooter disabled half the features and it works. I guess they wont fix the problems and try to sell new hardware for windows 10. Boyo that's good marketing, they will probably put some pitch for V2 compatible with Win10! |

Its said that Linksys is still releasing FW for v1. So I presume if you haven't contacted Linksys about this problem, you should so they can correct this issue if the real issue is with the router. It's possible that there is an issue with the connecting device as well. |

Do you mean V2? v1 hasn't released anything as of yet. |
