said by maxbrando:I'm suprised they haven't increased the modem rental to $10.99 yet Just wait, that is just the list of special charges and service fees. There will probably be another list in next month's bill with those price increases for 2016. EDIT: You can get an idea what they may be from other regions who got their price increases October 1st: » Re: [Price] Bye Bye Blast Plus |

On a (somewhat) tongue-in-cheek note, the Xfinity 2015 Year in Review flyer ran out of room for: "Complimentary name changes to an obscenity even after we apologize for doing it the first time." "Your modem is OUR modem: we'll keep charging you that lease fee. That's the Xfinity promise." Sorry, couldn't resist. |

Here is a sneak preview of the 2016 price increases for us here in the Freedom Region that will probably be included in our next bill: From: Comcast Xfinity bills going up about 4%By Bob Fernandez, Philadelphia Inquirer - November 20, 2015 » www.philly.com/philly/bu ··· _4_.htmlquote: Monthly bills for Comcast Corp. Xfinity customers in the Philadelphia area and New Jersey will go up about 4 percent on Jan. 1 with higher prices for cable TV and Internet services plus elevated fees.
The Philadelphia-based company began informing customers of the changes online on Friday and in mailings with bills this month.
Comcast isn't raising prices across-the-board but instead boosting them at varying levels on different cable TV packages or Internet services, according to the new rate card obtained by the The Inquirer. : Digital adapters [DTAs] for additional televisions in homes to access cable channels will rise to $3.99 a month from $2.99 a month, a 33 percent boost. : Comcast also will hike a "broadcast TV fee" by 66 percent to $5 a month from $3. : "Digital starter" - an entry-level package - remains unchanged at $69.95 a month. "Digital preferred plus two premiums" fell 6.7 percent to $111.90 a month from $119.90.
Meanwhile, triple-play bundles, TV, Internet and phone services, were generally hiked by $2.50 a month and several double-play bundles, or only TV and Internet services, were boosted $3 or $4 a month.
The prices on the "expanded basic" tier of service were relatively unchanged as were prices for international channels and telephone services."

Isn't amazing how they've turned the DTAs into another huge revenue center. This was billed to the FCC as inexpensive boxes that would allow them to migrate their analog channels to digital, which was a huge benefit for Comcast. Customers would no longer be able to use their cable ready tvs to watch these channels but that would be okay because they would be so cheap to provide. Funny how that doesn't last long. They are now almost as expensive as the full digital boxes were a decade ago. |

Isn't amazing how they've turned the DTAs into another huge revenue center.. Yes, I bet the SD-DTAs cost Comcast no more than $20-$25 each, and the newer HD-DTAs no more than $35 each. At the new $4 a month fee, an HD-DTA would be paid for in less than 10 months. |

Not to mention Comcast saved billions of dollars by not having to upgrade all of their plants to 1 GHz when they reclaimed the analog frequency. |

Comcast will say the price increase is justified due to the new Guide software installed in the DTA's. |

Here is the PDF for the new 2016 rate card for Philadelphia and Delaware Counties in PA (from » www.phillymag.com/busine ··· te-hike/ ). Here are the "highlights": Comcast releases rate changes for 2016 Almost every Double Play or Triple Play package is increasing by $1.50 to $4 per monthBy Sharon Lurye, PhillyVoice - November 24, 2015 » www.phillyvoice.com/comc ··· es-2016/quote: Here's a summary of the changes:
- Almost every Triple Play Package is increasing by $1.50.
- Almost every Double Play package is going up by $3 or $4.
- Adding HBO to a package is now cheaper, as the price fell from $21.95 to $15.
- Four premium channels (Showtime, Starz, Cinemax and The Movie Channel) are now $12. This is a decrease in price in most packages but an increase in price for others.
- A Blast! Speed Upgrade will cost $1 to $4 more depending on the plan while an Extreme 150 upgrade will cost $3 to $4 less depending on the plan.
- Limited basic TV service in the Philadelphia area is going up between 30 cents and $1.15. However, expanded basic services will go down by the same amount.
- The broadcast TV fee will increase from $3 to $5, the regional sports fee will increase from $1 to $3 and the field collection charge (for when customers do not pay the bills or return equipment) will increase from $25 to $30.
- Some digital services are increasing in price -- while others are decreasing. The biggest decrease in price is $17.95 for the Digital Premier package. The biggest increase is $4 for Digital Preferred Plus.
- Some Internet-only plans are increasing by $3-$4. The Extreme 505 Xfinity Internet Service is dropping from $399.95 to $299.95.
- There are small changes in price (less than a dollar) for some video equipment and installation fees.

Did get my latest bill here in the Chicago area with the prices. It's pretty much the same as seen in other parts of the country. Highlights: Standard video packages (Limited, Starter, Preferred): +$0.50 DTA: +$1.00 RSN fee: +$2.00 (200%!!) Broadcast fee: +$1.75 Premium channels (HBO etc..): -$2.99 Performance Internet w/ video or voice: +$2.00 (no change for standalone) Blast! standalone: +$1.00 Blast! w/ video or voice: +$5.00
Personally, I see $0.50 + $1.00 + $2.00 + $1.75 + $2.00 = $7.25 + taxes. |
