Did MS stop updating its Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool?

I noticed WIndows (XP Pro SP3)'s Update didn't offer me a September 2016 today. Is anyone seeing it?

Thank you in advance.

Link but it just duplicates what your installed AV does in the background all the time.
Plus it phones home telemetry to MS every time you use it.

How are you even getting updates for Windows XP when Microsoft ended support for Windows XP on April 8th, 2014???

Window/Microsoft Update still works - it never stopped working, and wont stop working for the forseeable future (2019 at the earliest)

You see, Microsoft simply played a semantic/marketing game when they said "mainstream support ended" for XP. Notice that key word "mainstream".

What they really were saying is "some new obvious support ended, but all the existing support and non-obvious support for XP is continuing until at least 2019".

That's because of course, they still support XP for large enterprise/government customers who are on "extended" support plans, not to mention the continuing support for XP SP3 based distributions like WEPOS 2009 by contract until 2019.

New updates/patches/hotfixes are continously developed and released for such customers/distributions, and will be, until at least 2019 - and they are easy enough to make, since 90+% of Windows uses the same codebase across versions.

All any XP user/customer has to do to get the NEW patches (remember..WU/MU still works for getting any of the April 2014 and earlier patches) via Windows/Microsoft Update is a minor registry tweak identifying that XP install as being WEPOS 2009 - an XP SP3 distribution/SKU.

And youll get those updates until 2019.

XP is alive and well in terms of support, despite Microsoft's (and others') desire to make you believe otherwise.

What is end of support?
After 12 years, support for Windows XP ended April 8, 2014. There will be no more security updates or technical support for the Windows XP operating system. It is very important that customers and partners migrate to a modern operating system such as Windows 10. Customers moving to a modern operating system will benefit from dramatically enhanced security, broad device choice for a mobile workforce, higher user productivity, and a lower total cost of ownership through improved management capabilities.

What does this mean?
It means you should take action. After April 8, 2014 Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for Windows XP. Security updates patch vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malware and help keep users and their data safer. PCs running Windows XP after April 8, 2014, should not be considered to be protected, and it is important that you migrate to a current supported operating system such as Windows 10 so you can receive regular security updates to protect their computer from malicious attacks.
