Looking for AEI or IStop DSL feedbackDoes anyone have experience with either AEI.net or IStop.com's DSL service? They both sound like a good deal for 1.2Mbps/160Kbps. I'm moving to Ottawa. |

yes i use Istop... there the same thing as sympatico cept tehy don't block anythign out.. like say you want to run a webhosting server... then YEs you can port 80 isn't blocked .. also you can have 3 pop accounts and sell those off to your friends... wink wink.... the only thing that sucks is tehre dumbass 8 till 5 weekdays only tech support.... soo if your internet connection goes down your screwed for the weekend... that happened to me once... but over all i'm a satisfied customer.. |

Istop has bandwith caps of 15GB, while AEI's 1.2Mbps doesnt have any caps at the moment. I'm signing up for AEI's 1.2/160 either today or tomorrow...As far as my research has gone, that seems like the best deal. They had some problems, but theyre ok now. Just make sure you have your own modem: dont buy their Daewoo one because it stinks. |

I though Istop was at 20GB Cap. |

AEI seems like the best bet so far, I was on the 1.2 service then i switched to the 3.5 with the 20gb limit. Btw, on the 1.2 service, the upload is 320, not 160 (I was ULing at 39.8k/sec). [text was edited by author 2002-07-20 12:57:37] |

I thought AEI required you to buy their $200 modem with no option to rent or use your own. Am I wrong? |

AEI doesn't have an option to rent a modem, but u can own ur modem, u don't have to buy it from them. And for all isps, if u have the option to own ur modem, always buy it from some computer shop, or some online retailers. It's always alot cheaper, and probably better than buying it from an isp, for instance, i'm buying a GVC B0040 external modem for 165$ from a computer shop here in montreal ( www.microbytes.com ), the same modem costs 249$ from IGS... |

They just dropped it to 15 gig actually and something like 67 gig on non peak times, I beleive from 3am to 8am or something to that effect. Also they have not been accepting new customers for about a month now, with no known date on when they will accept new customers. |

Yes. I cant remember exactly what the amount is or the times but that is the new policy that have put in place. Something like 67 gig and in the middle of the night. I believe those are the times, but do not quote me. |
