These modems should be phased out. Most of them are only 8 channels.. |

The only one that is 8 channel is the SB6141. The SB6120 and SB6121 are 4x4. |

My 6141 gets me 270/24 speeds on my TWC MAXX service. I'm happy not paying for a new modem. |

Probably... I don't have a 16 or more channel modem to test my area though. I'm considering purchasing the Arris SB8200 just for the heck of it, even though I won't be able to recoup anything from it. It'd be $200.34 shipped from Amazon 😐 |

Yeah, my 6141 is a workhorse. It's been going strong for 5 years now and gets me 125/12 on my 100/10 connection. I see no reason to upgrade. |

Your losing 30 mbps . Spectrum provides modems for free anyways. |

I'm legacy TW not Spectrum so I don't qualify for the free modem. Sure everything here around Syracuse now says Spectrum on it but I'm told that if I were to switch to SP. that my services would cost much more (even with free modem and DVR). I have the option to stay TWC so I am. And yes a 16 or 24 channel modem would be better but I'm not to get into the upgrade rat race yet. I could have bought a 16 but then when the 24's came out would have wanted to to jump again and now 32's are close and some day 3.1. For the cost of all those modems I could have rented from TWC. Heck and I'm sure that some day SP. will push me into one of their plans and then I get a free one that would make all those modems in the closet look real bad.
I'm cool with my speed now. |

I had a 6121 that ran 100/10 just fine, usually 117/12. |

It never ceases to amaze me that, when it comes to technology, certain upgrade addicts want to push everyone else around. UPGRADE, UPGRADE, UPGRADE!!! It really gets tiresome. To be honest, I am an early adopter on some things, and like to ride the bleeding edge on some things and experiment. But on other things, if it is working and providing the function I expect, I just want to leave well enough alone. And I never scold others with this nonsense like "your stuff only has X channels / X memory / X speed". It's just ridiculous. |

my 6141 works fine. why I would replace it since MAXX will never get to here and we our top speed is 60M? |

I agree but there is a guy from a different thread that was upset about people buying modems like the cm500 just because spectrum doesn't have a lease fee. If you can get it for $25 or less in some places who really cares if it saves money or not |

Well, in this case Spectrum will give you a better one for free. And if you're on the 300/20 plan with a 6141, you're leaving a lot of bandwidth on the table My grandpa actually just converted over to a spectrum HSD plan, and they gave him a brand new still packaged 6183, even though the plan is only 60/5. |

Technology eventually gets to a point where it is good enough for most peoples' uses. I just bought a 7-year-old used wireless router on ebay for $3.68 and I'm very happy with it. It was near the top of the line wireless router back then and it's probably still better than a lot of the "cheap" wireless routers today that would have cost many times more. |

So if someone lives in a apartment near hundreds of families channels don't matter at all? |
|

SB6141 works well for me too, I don't see a reason to upgrade it either. I will wait until fiber gets to my house, or when docsis 3.1 is deployed in my area. |

Those 4x4 modems being provisioned at 300/20 shouldn't be a thing because the modem can max out several DOCSIS channels if the connection is being hammered or fully utilized.
This is why L-TWC gave out 16x4 modems for this speed tier.
We aren't saying upgrade for the sake of upgrading, what I am saying is upgrade so that you aren't a burden on the network. |

Yeah you sure about that? I keep asking for a modem and all they have are 8 channel all in ones/EMTA that are 3 times the size of my old 6141 and not any better and I argue they are much worse. I bought a 6183 on ebay for 35 bucks and love it. |
