Re: INFO: The Looooong Reset Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I had given up hope of ever solving my BEFSR41 miserable uplink speed problem, the subject of three posts here and an unanswered E-mail to Linksys tech support. Finally concluded it must be some defect in the Linky.
I just called CompUSA to see if they had another BEFSR41 in stock, which I was about to drive over to buy.
Checked the forum one final time to see if any new posts on the subject, and I saw your post.
Tried the "extended" looooong reset, holding about 25 seconds beyond the diag light cycle.
Viola, problem solved! After more than a year of putting up with it.
I had previously exercised the "non-extended" long reset, releasing a few seconds after the diag light cycle. But that didn't do the trick.
I did notice some WAN LED flashing on both the BEF and the modem during the extension period.
I'm really thankful for your post, which was just in the nick of time. It saved me a long drive and about $100, which I will now spend on some web publishing tools.
I'm so happy! Now I can publish my web via DSL instead of dial-up (which was much faster until now).
I think I'd better post a new thread on this, just in case others miss this one.

| The Longer Looooong Reset Thanks to everyone for their input.
This idea of going far longer than the DIAG light coming on is curious. Too many people have said it makes a difference so something must be going on.
Question for anyone that's seen this...
I'd like to know if the password changes back to "admin" with the shorter, ineffective, try at this reset? Would this be a reliable indicator? |

| What to do if DIAG doesn't come on. REFERENCE: »Befsr41 v2 - reset / loooong reset? In the interest of keeping this info in one spot this thread reminded me I've also seen this happen.
Try as long as you like the DIAG light never comes on. In fact, I've seen the RESET completely ineffective - it does nothing. The solution is a power-cycle of the router then try again.
