Everyday Widevine and OpenH264 create a tmpaddon file.Everyday at 12:04 it will create two files in the temp folder, one called tmpaddon and one called tmpaddon but with a "-" and a series of numbers and letters. This seems to be new behavior that started on the 14th of April and I'm wondering what it could be possibly creating everyday, I've ran a few through Virus Total and the results came back clean. I tend to think any and everything is suspicious so I wanted to see if other users are having the same thing happen. » www.virustotal.com/#/fil ··· etection» www.virustotal.com/#/fil ··· etection |

What version of FF? What extensions are you using? If you "disable" (set to 'false') the widevine Prefs in about:config (at least temporarily to test), do you still get those temp files? What attributes do those temp files have? How long do they persist? Only during the FF session? |

How do I check that? Attribute is AI or AL So it's Archived and Indexed, I think that means. |

I'm having a hard time finding any more information about this online but probably because no one really cares besides me or it's only happening to me. |

I just disabled Widevine and OpenH264. So far, nothing is broke. I read the description for OpenH264 and it is for the WebRTC. Currently, I don't use that. Youtube is working fine without Widevine.
I checked my temp folders - found nothing. I think it is unique to your situation.
I would check about:serviceworkers and make sure there is nothing there causing problems. Since I run Firefox in private/incognito mode, I don't believe serviceworkers can operate on my system. |

What is serviceworkers? I'm looking at this about page, but I don't get it. |

I don't have anything showing under serviceworkers. I think it just some javascript. |

I have one for Twitter, Youtube, Outlook, playstation and virustotal. |

Interesting Update or maybe not: If I have my browser closed at 12:04 AM, it does not create the files. Edit: It however just made them a few minutes later after I reopened the browser. |

Have you tried disabling the Widevine and/or OpenH264 plugins to see if there is a change? The OpenH264 is supposed to be for WebRTC which many people don't use.
(Tools -> Addons -> Plugins)
The Widevine is for DRM I think. I guess I'm not running into much DRM these days, since, after your early posts, I disabled both plugins to see what I would be missing. Haven't missed anything so far. |

I have to use it to watch Netflix on the PC. |

Both of the plugins? Or just the Widevine? |
|

Widevine allows the DRM and theH264 allows me to watch it without flash. |
