West Monroe, LA | Bestbuy, Walmart, Petsmart Security Issues For about 2 days, there has been alot of talk about how when you purchase at a Bestbuy, all of your information is sent out in cleartext across a wireless network. That information can be captured while transfering across the network.

I drove by a Bestbuy earlier and the parking lot was full of people..hmm..

Dustin, stay away from that place..you can go blind sitting in that parking lot..not to mention all the people with sweaty Palm staring at you. I hear they are also on sale at bestbuys.

Did not see this mentioned but the television news says Bestbuy has shut off all the affected systems. Not a good place to be from what they showed on the tube, the lines were very long.

As an IP professional, it is beyond me how something like this can get past normal IP due diligence. I mean, these are large companies with the resources for Infosec and legal staffs, and issues with wireless privacy are widely known. Basic stuff. Somebody screwed up royally.
I would like to know if these companies notified all of their customers that had transactions processed in this way that their credit card numbers may have been compromised. |

and to think i buy from best buy almost all my audio cd's and my blank cd's as well as my ink and games for ps2 geeze i better pay attention to my debit statements rather closely
