 | My Opinion... 1. Most of these rips or cams probably aren't as good as seeing the real thing. I capture TV shows for my use and the quality still sucks, unless i have a huge file size.
2. If you like something support it. Go see Star Wars. It shows that you want George to make the sequal. Plus the real thing will be superior quality.
3. The people who pirate will do so no matter what. If one way is just shut down they'll find another way. The laws are already in place against this. The RIAA and other organizations are just wasting money trying to shut these down.
4. If you warez software then the price will just be higher because the author needs to recoup the money invested into making the program. -- SuSE Linux|Lindows|Do you Penguin? |

Quit using Linux then. -- Don't forget their song request guarantee. If they don't play your song, they will play something else. Guaranteed! |

Me: I hate ethical dilemas. Anyways here is an explanation for you. Linux is software licensed under the GNU General Public License. Under this license the source code for a program is freely available for people to modify and improve. People make changes for the greater good. Anyways Linux is not Warez, never had been, and because of the GPL it never will be. Please check your facts before trolling. Thank you. -- SuSE Linux|Lindows|Do you Penguin? |

 | reply to Techie2000 There are more than just cams...
Below is basic descriptions of the acronyms\terminology often used in VCD releases.
Subbed: Movie contains sub-titles (captioned text @ bottom of screen).
Dubbed: Movie has had another language "dubbed" over original.. IE: English over Korean, etc.
Cam: Like name implies.. Recorded by somebody in the theatre w\a video camera. Often the worst quality.
Telesync (TS): Same as above, but often using a much better camera, and capturing sound as a seperate source.
Telecine (TC): Can be done several ways, but *ALL* involve taking the footage directly from the film reel. Typically better than TS.
Widescreen (WS): Referring to the movies format, being Wide Screen (often\usually letterboxed, not fullscreen)
Screener: Usually taken from a "Screening" VHS tape, released to movie critics\theatre operators.
Work Print: A copy taken frame by frame (yikes!@#$&) either from celluloid or other sources. Quality varys.
DVDRip: Video stream ripped directly from laserdisc or DVD. *Usually* very high quality.
I go after the SVCD, TC, DVD rips.. Spiderman is so nice man, burn it pop it into my Hacked DVD player, $.19 per CD and a little work, I think its worth it..
As long as I don't make any money off of it I am fine |

Ahh, hit a nerve? rofl.
I suppose I could have been clearer in my previous post.
Linux and Warez is free. But as we have seen time and time again, there is no free lunch. Someone is paying for your free software.
The only difference is, one is legal and one is not. -- Don't forget their song request guarantee. If they don't play your song, they will play something else. Guaranteed! |

| Techie2000: I think that's exactly the point everyone's made... Pirating music or software doesn't steal anything from anyone. All it does is goes against their sense of entitlement. The porsche in the RIAA exec's garage didn't get stolen, just his comfort level. |

johrhoOh Yeah, I'M Gonna Do Somethin'. join:2002-03-19 Mountain Home, ID | Are you saying that artists do not deserve to be compensated or be paid royalties on each copy? I for one believe they do. Any copy not officially produced and marketed/sold so that the artist receives due compensation is wrong period. A form of skewed rationalization that "it's okay for personal use" exists today. If you don't believe that the producer of a product doesn't deserve to be paid then don't buy it. But that doesn't give anyone the right to steal their product, just because they can.

 | I'm saying that right now the law system is one which favors the artists over the consumers. When in reality the consumers are the ones who need the rights. |
