But they tend to pioneer the, solder everything down on expensive laptop trend. I'll excuse my $100 Windows tablet with a quad core Atom, a decent 1080p screen, and soldered in Realtek 1x1 802.11n SDIO Wireless and a single antenna, simply because it is $100. But I sort-of expect a $2,000 laptop to have the same modularity as my old $400 Dell Inspiron or my $1,000 HP ENVY x360 (AMD Ryzen) with some BTO changes.

Either way, only way OP will know if the laptop can be given a better Wi-Fi card is to open up the machine and see what is available for antenna hook-ups. HP is usually pretty good at including a second antenna even when 1x1 Wi-Fi cards are present, since the 1x1 cards can use the antenna diversity for better range (and the laptops which don't, usually have garbage Wi-Fi anyways!). Shame on the manufacturers who don't use diversity.

Given the 1x1 antenna, most likely your going to have to go with an external USB adapter.

Let be real here though, WiFi will never be as fast as a wired connection. 200Mbps is really an excellent result. The Speedtest I just did with my iPad that has 2x2 antennas results in 50Mbps, my wired desktop reads 905. This is due to the number of devices (25 on WiFi) and spectrum congestion in the area.
