XP home (password)

XP home. Bootup as Administator. I have no password, in that the bootup takes me right to desktop.
When I run a batch file as a scheduled task,
it refuses to run because it is looking for a password. ???

It aparantly is happening to others beside myself, See thread: »IU Batch File Instructions Tweaking Thread

Can anyone tell me where I can find the existing password?

I'm confused. If there isn't a password there isn't a password.

You probably should make one especially with the administrator account. You create passwords through the Users Control Panel.

Those tasks won't run unless you have a password. You must create one then specify it in the options for the automated task.

Oh, OK, under User Accounts, and then set a password for an existing account, and then go into the task, and enter the same password????

Then next time I power up, do I have to enter this password in order to get to the desktop?

I'd like to avoid having a login screen if at all possible.
Thanks for the info....!!

First question - Yes
Second question - Initially yes, but if you have TweakUI (as part of Powertoys) you can configure it to automatically log you in under the "Logon" section. If you don't have TweakUI you can get it here: »www.microsoft.com/window ··· toys.asp

If you have trouble making a password try booting in safemode. It might not allow you to set a password otherwise.

(edit) my bad spelling.

Thanks for that information....
I will attempt to "Fix" this after work, tomorrow am.

When I screw it up, I can always post
"what chuckhole I fell into"
from the old W98SE system!!!

Thanks for your patience on this.... This is my first foray into an NT style platform.

Let us know how it goes.

You'll see that NT is much better than 9x after a little while with it.
