Re: DSL vs Powergate

Travis,
I'm currently a powergate.ca subscriber and I would have to say that I'm pleased with the speeds that I'm getting. I got the service in 2000 and found it comparable to other high speed providers but recently I've found it to be even faster. I've never really thought about checking out what kinds of speeds I get but I decided to this time check out a site bos.speakeasy.net and this is what I got after performing the test 4 times. 1st test: 380kbps down / 36 kbps up. 2nd test: 286 kbps down / 33 kbps up. 3rd test: 543 kbps down / 11 kbps up. 4th test: 611 kbps down / 53 kbps up. You claim that upload speeds are capped at 192 kbps and down loads at 1.3Mbps. Does this mean I should be seeing no less than these values you are reporting?

That does seem slower than it should be, definitely. I'll get in touch with you on Tuesday, and we'll see what the situation is.

You can also try nyc.speakeasy.net, and I'd also try doing a test download of a large file from a site like msn.com, and seeing what kind of speeds you get.

Powergate speed

Just ran nyc.speakeasy.net trial and the median rate was 1223/200.
I've used a variety of ISP services and this is the first one that just quietly and efficiently delivers good service, reliable speed and doesn't bother me endlessly with offers, emails, and other "noise".
