I think they meant 3 Mbps for downloads and 400kbps for uploads. That's a cap - you can't make it faster. Be glad if you even get those speeds, considering they're now saying on their website they have a 1500/192 cap.

It was actually 3000/384o kilobits. But now they decreased it by half to 1500/192 kilobits.

It wasn't decreased as far as we know. I think they just put it there so that people wouldn't complain that they aren't getting 3mb/s.

What I meant by that was that, they are now advertising 1500/192, not to say that we all are now getting 1500/192.

Rogers is capping at 1500/192, in July. That's what I heard, and it will cost $44.95 per month as usual, aww well that's the game of broadband for you, we are officially screwed, we can't turn anywhere unless we have big bucks, and right now I don't. This is sad.

I dont really care if they cap it at 1.5 mbps... The maximum i get is 1.2 mbps anyways, and I haven't gone over that speed in like 5 months.

If that's your typical speed, then you have been provisioned at the 1.5 MBits/sec cap. I don't quite understand the technical details of how these modems work enough to comprehend why, but if you're provisioned at 3MBits/sec, you will see variable speeds up to that, say in the 2.5 to 3MBits/sec range. If they now reprovision you at 1.5, you'll get speeds in the 1.0 to 1.5 range, even though your line can consistently exceed that. You would think that you should get pretty close to 1.5 all the time, but it doesn't seem to work that way!

Thats what sucks about the was ISP's work. They should include the overhead in the speed cap. If they want the speed to be 1500 then give us 1750 so we can hit 1500.
