 | Where to purchase? So, where can one purchase the PipeRider? I would like to own my device instead of renting it from Time Warner!

| Why would you want to own your own cable modem??
When TW provides it they have to maintain it. If lightning kills it like it has done to mine twice TW replaces it for no charge. If I would have owned it I would of had to bought 2 new ones already... |

 | That's why you usually get warranties with the products you purchase.
Why would I want to buy one? First, then I am eligible for a discount on cable service from Time Warner which I would otherwise be paying for a monthly rental. Secondly, I get to choose the modem I want, not the modem they want to give me. But that's only my preference, renting might be a better option for you! |

 | Good point, but still... I live in New York, and I haven't ever had anything damaged by lightning. And even it it does, I might just "forget" to mention the fact when I call for warranty. |

You can't change any settings on the modem so why does it matter which modem you have?? You want one that looks cooler?? |
|
 | One that looks cool is a plus, but not what I look at first. Main thing is it should work! For example, for DSL I was unable to make the Efficient Speedstream to ever work, but Westell WireSpeed worked right out of the box. I also want a modem that will be able to connect to an ethernet hub, or better yet work on my Linksys router. |
