Re: XP/4060 Problem USB modem? Well, I for one wouldn't use one either. I suppose if the ONLY thing you have on your USB port is the DSL, then it "might" work ok, but add a USB mouse, printer, or ESPECIALLY a camera and you will exceed the bandwith limit of the usb port and since it's a shared bandwith, it will disconnect the "session" between the USB port and the DSL modem. I guess that's what happens anyway  I had a friend on a USB cable modem and she was getting knocked off anytime she printed, or used her USB camera. I got a NIC, hooked a CAT5 cable to her cable modem and it's rock solid stable when she prints and uses the camera now. |
