RCA modems on rogers

anyone have an RCA modem on rogers yet?

apparently they give those out too now for DOCSIS areas (as well as the piperiders).

what's the model number? anyone have opinions about them?

How do you convince rogers to change your modem?? =\ I got the TeraPro modem.. (Standard) Unfortunatly i can't check my damn signals with it! Rogers tech said last time I checked, signals were high... Every so often I get disconnected.. I've got lots of wiring problems... There's a list of problems... But I refuse going back to ADSL

Hmmm...from what I've read & heard, the best DOCSIS modems that Rogers uses are the Ericsson PipeRider & the Toshiba; a cable tech buddy of mine said that the RCA had really high ping times...FWIW.

Hmm... well I've been getting sort of the same problems. The signals your technician was talking about were the send / receive frequencies. If they are to high or low, they can cause the modem to go offline. Another thing that might cause that is the modem at their office may be rebooting itself.

In regards to them changing your modem... Your modem is assigned to you geographically. It depends how the wires are set up in your area. For example, if they were to give you an RCA or Toshiba modem, it might not work at all! The TeraPro you have is the one that they have approved. Nevertheless, there's nothing special about any of the modems they give out. They all do the same things... DOCSIS are just like add-on features to the modem.

I've got some people coming over on Wednesday to do some re-wiring from the cable box outside, and they might be replacing my modem to fix the problems. Hopefully the Online light will stay solid green.

Anyways, best of luck!

I only get the Motorola SurfBoard in my area.

I've heard that the Toshiba modem works best. If you can get it, that is...

To get a new modem pour water in your current modem. Wait for it to fry. Call Rogers and tell them your modem broke down. Then you get a brand new DOCSIS.

Wrong answer ... You get whatever your node and phub is capable of and if a multi-standard node, you get whatever they want to deal with. If you're on a mostly Terayon node which has been upgraded to DOCSIS capability, chances are still significant you'll get a Terayon modem. Depends on things like the number of modems on the shelf!
