 | Cap Email from Rogers A Rogers Hi-Speed user located in Southwestern Ontario received this response from Rogers' Electronic Support Group regarding his enquiry as to bandwidth cap.
Has anybody else received this type of response from Rogers or in the past couple of weeks had their bandwidth throttled back to 1.5 MB per second?
quote: Dear Mr. ,
Thank you for emailing the Rogers Hi-Speed Internet Electronic Support team. We appreciate hearing from our subscribers regarding our service.
Speed and performance will be evenly distributed across the entire network by the implementation of a modem throttle to 1.5 MB per second and is a part of the evolution of our service:
1. As we evolve the service, we want to provide levels of service that meet all customer needs. We are examining the option of launching an additional higher tier of service. In order for our service to be competitive, we are reviewing the competitive environment and making strategic decisions.
2. The vast majority of customers will not notice any difference. In fact, the performance of your service will improve because by reducing the modem speed, we are reducing congestion caused by high-use customers who abuse the network by downloading very large files on a continuous basis.
The monthly rate for the service remains at $44.95 ($40.95 for VIP). For the majority of customers, the service will improve. It will improve because by reducing the modem speed, we are reducing congestion caused by high-use customers who abuse the network by downloading very large files on a continuous basis.
