| Rogers is combining nodes to squeeze out bandwidth Well, I finally squeezed it out from one Rogers tech support weenie... I literally pulled it out of him. The guy told me that prior to Wednesday June 19, my node had 50 cablemodems. and magically on that day, Rogers combined two nodes into one, giving it 100 modems, and reduced the speed on those two combined nodes to 1500/192 from 3000/400. He said one of nodes that was combined into my node, could have been having major problems and that's why they did it. But I find that hard to believe. They usually split nodes that have trouble, not combine two in one. So there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth, its not just a cap and that's it, its just a pathetic and sneaky way by Rogers to squeeze out more bandwidth out of their system, and STILL charge the customer the same, for less. -- Thanks Leafs for a great season & playoffs. |

I think someone needs to give Rogers a good smack upside their heads.

Re: Rogers is combining nodes to squeeze out bandw Well, the new corporate standard is 1500/192 ... no matter how many clients are on a node.
Combining nodes isn't all that surprising considering they say can have 2-300 homes on a node. It may be that the other half of this node had troubles because of defective hardware so combining the node makes some sense. It may be that your CMTS is better than theirs anyway! |

| Well, fix the bloody node if its broke! Even if they cap at 1500/192, 50 homes on a node is better than 100! I've seen my speed tests dip below 1000kbps a few times already.

So this apparent way of giving me better service, cant even maintain a steady 1mbit connection now, where before I was steady at 2mbit+. Where's the logic in that? I guess in Rogers' greedy corporate mind there is... -- Thanks Leafs for a great season & playoffs. |
