You got capped. They are capping everyone at 1500/192. Nice to know is it not?

Experiencing random connection loss here also.

Line Quality test says it all:

Called Rogers Tech Support earlier about my bandwidth test results:
2002-07-02 16:27:39 EST: 11 / 61
Your download speed : 11639 bps, or 11 kbps.
A 1.4 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 61842 bps, or 61 kbps
Node: tlgw4.flfrd.phub

Only comment from Tech Support was that everything looks fine from their perspective. Told him, it must be the new bandwidth caps being implemented, 15 kbps down and 65 kbps up.

I asked a tech that came over about the bandwidth caps and he denied it; he said that Rogers never did such a thing!

This is bad no? I don't even know what this means in terms of line loss. Something must be wrong because I have never seen anything like this

My connect has been flaky since the caps were instituted. I see my internet access just grind to a halt, but the modem light is still online. It often resumes after a minute or two, but sometimes requires a modem reset. And they said it was supposed to gives us better service, my ass! they've combined two nodes here and I'm seeing way worse service than before. I call tech support and they tell me its my Win2k Server, because its unsupported by them. Again MY FAT ASS because the machine has NOT been changed in any way for over 2 years. Screw them, I think I'm gonna start shopping around for an independent DSL provider. I already have an Alcatel modem, so it shouldn't be bad.

Steve

i'm guessing its teleglobe problems... its not happening in rogers' network... or it could be some fucked up routing by rogers... i dunno

To Dj Mau108: I am admired that you are having such a good speed. At least, it seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
To Ritz: Your speedtest result is really bad but i am wrost than yours!
To Magic Happens: Wow! your speed is even wrost than my phoneline access!
========================================================
I just got Rogers and disappointed with my speedtest result because all of my friends who are using rogers
are getting 1000+ kbps for download.
When i transfer a file to my friend who is living in Asia by using icq, the speed was only around 10KB, and my friend told me that he usually transferred 60KB to his friends! Rogers SUCKS!!! Sigh! I have no choices for choosing hi-speed in toronto, because i have the alarmsystem which the DSL company rejected my order....Anyway.....
However, when i download things in download.com, the speed is acceptable as I can get around 95KB. Anyway, here is my speed result as a new user:

Am I being capped for speed? I am using Lancity modem!
How can I improve my speed? Thanks for your help!

First off, it looks that you're capped but you should be getting around 1200/180 on your speed tests even if you're capped. Looking at your line quality test it's obvious that you have some packet loss at your end, that means you probably have some wiring issues. Read this FAQ to determine if you have wiring problems: »Cable Modems and Wiring Issues

BTW, get rid of that Lancity modem! They are sh!t. Get a Terayon.

My speeds have finally improved...Well not really 1000/184 roughly...Nothing compared to my 2mb connection..Im really not impressed..When the bit caps come, im defentely cancelling rogers.
