| How much is a CD really worth? Some friends and I were discussing this the other day....
Everyone complains about the high price of CD's and other forms of media. I was wondering what would be the "magic" price at which most of the MP3 swapping and copying stops in favor of people just paying for music.
I don't make much money and I can't afford as much music as I would like to purchase.....I think about $10 for a CD would be fair.... |

| Well, a cd actually is cheaper to produce than cassette tapes were. Much cheaper.....so..... if a cassette sold for $9 then a CD should NEVER sell for more than $9. Maybe even $7- $8. The main group stealing here is the RIAA... they are stealing our hard earned money for crappy music that's only worth HALF the price! Music is an artform people.... and it's the RIAA's job to keep it from those who aren't rich. Well, now those who aren't rich found a way to get their ART back.

A legitimate answer, a CD is worth as much as the market will bear. In other words, a CD is worth as much as people are willing to pay. If people continue to buy cd's at current prices the price will remain constant or go up. If not, the prices will drop. Capitalism at work. |
