| Lol... that great.... I called rogers tech today... bout my crappy speeds... their responce... 'there seems to be nothing wrong with any of OUR hardware... you not losing any hops, and ur ping time is good... under 50ms average, and you getting less then 100ms on trace rout...' well.... seems like it HAS to be ME!!! lol!!! ~~i cleared all temp files, and stuff like that... and they are blaming ME for the speeds... 'this does not seem to be a problem with our servers, its smthin on your end'~~ then... i said 'when are the new tiers comming out?' responce 'we do plan on bringing in some NEW levels of service...' then i asked 'wut will the prices be like, to get our 3000 line back?' his responce 'u mean a 3Mbit?... well, we have no plans to bring that out for residental...' i liked his pause after i said 'thats great... think ill move to DSL' then i just hung up on their crappy bs. btw, these are wut my speeds look like: » /speedtests/36···26353350» /speedtests/37···26353411» /speedtests/34···26353476» /speedtests/31···26353600» /speedtests/30···26353688» /speedtests/62···26398065» /speedtests/74···26398142» /speedtests/69···26398273» /speedtests/73···26398951according to him, the top speed we could reach is 1200... no sh*t tell me smthin i didnt know!!! so wut it all boils down to... is that the slow speeds are my prob, nothing they could pssibly do about it...lol... ya right.... and that there will b no 3mbit service comming out for residential.... that means we need a business package to get that... that prolly bout 100+/month... dont think so... am calling a few DSL provides... and seeing wut they offer!!! -- AMD T-BIRD 1.2GHz -OCed to 1.344Ghz - 256Meg - 4x 32 AGP - 39.5Gig - CABLE (*Crap*) - XP PRO - 2000 PRO -I AM IMMORTAL, I HAVE INSIDE ME BLOOD OF KINGS, YEAH, I HAVE NO RIVAL, NO MAN CAN BE MY EQUAL |

 | Which speed test did you use? If you used the california one, try the NYC speakeasy test... Also all those tests are within a 1 minute period on the same day... |

When they stop caring we should stop payin' hey man, im new to this site (dslreports.com) and this is my first post, but the reason I signed up was because Im having the same problems with Rogers as you. It used to be fast, (I have no idea how you got the speeds, but im sure I need some program to measure it). Anyways, what are our options atm? I've heard that in the states u can get 1.5mbps connections using DSL.,
Anyone know the default speed cable is roughly? What are my options in bringing in a faster connection to my home?
Im not interested in paying huge amounts, but at the moment my monthly cable/internet bill is around $80 and thats just channels 2-28, and this crappy connection. I feel like im getting hosed.
And on a side note: COuld anyone direct me to a site that could host a server for Tribes 2, capable of handling 32 players/ unlocked.?? |

| I have quite a few of the cable tv channels that are quite fuzzy here. But before the cap I could get 2.2-2.4mbit easily. Now the most I get is 1.4mbit. -- Crunch for Team Discovery! Also visit www.ihaterogers.ca |

| if you can try this, they dont say much in returen... just all this BS internetsupport@rci.rogers.com you can go to thier 'help' site, and under contact there are different ways... like callin and e-mail »www.rogershelp.com/help/content/contact/
and, no, its not Bell HSE (sympatico) i called AEI today, their 3.5 line is like 49.99 plus 150 or 200 to buy the modem (cheeper then renting, like wit Bell). heres AEI.ca's phone, if u want it 1-416-640-1611 ext.730 -- AMD T-BIRD 1.2GHz -OCed to 1.344Ghz - 256Meg - 4x 32 AGP - 39.5Gig - CABLE (*Crap*) - XP PRO - 2000 PRO -I AM IMMORTAL, I HAVE INSIDE ME BLOOD OF KINGS, YEAH, I HAVE NO RIVAL, NO MAN CAN BE MY EQUAL |

Getting Better |
|
 | Why do people say switch to DSL? Doesn't Sympatico give still lower speeds (1 Mbit) for $5 more per month, AND give you a cap for monthly bandwidth. How is this better? I realize some DSL have no caps, but soon they will probably and speed is no better. |

| hutz, Sympatico HSE 1mbps/128k is the same price as Rogers 1.5mbps/192kbps, $44.99 per month. In theory, the Rogers service is better, if your area is not overpopulated and is working properly. But DSL is known to have its own issues as well, so its up in the air. Sympatico does however offer a 3mbps/640kbps service, but that's $69.99 and only has a 10GB cap. -- Crunch for Team Discovery! | reply to hutz Do u know how many DSL servers/ISP there are in Toronto alone? and no the speed can range from 960/60-3500/800 speeds... and most, if they have a d/l cap, its 10-20 gig/month, and for most isp's that only applys to the higher speed service. AEI and other co's offer a low speed (1-1.2Mbit) and a high speed (1.5-3.5), so yes, in most yes, it appears to be better... consitering i only get 20-63% of my service... -- AMD T-BIRD 1.2GHz -OCed to 1.344Ghz - 256Meg - 4x 32 AGP - 39.5Gig - CABLE (*Crap*) - XP PRO - 2000 PRO -I AM IMMORTAL, I HAVE INSIDE ME BLOOD OF KINGS, YEAH, I HAVE NO RIVAL, NO MAN CAN BE MY EQUAL |

hutz @cpe.net.cable.rogers | reply to HiVolt They're both $45 if you don't have cable. I have cable and am a VIP member, so I pay $36 per month($40 less 10%) for Rogers and no cap. I hate Rogers but it still seems like the best deal by far for me. I guess if you have satellite it's different. I usually get a full 1.5 mbit/s in ottawa, okay but not 3 mbit I used to get. |

| Heh, in order to have the VIP discount you need to be paying for the full cable package with all those tiers. I think full cable with those is around $45-50. I pay Basic cable and for the hispeed internet. But i removed the line filter on the box on the street like 6 years ago and I get full cable package, for the price of basic. While its illegal, i dont f!@#$%^ care cuz I hate Rogers. And it comes out cheaper if I had the VIP discount. -- Crunch for Team Discovery! Also visit www.ihaterogers.ca |
