Re: Peer to Peer Programs

I tried to mess with my firewall setting, i disabled and still no searches, i then enabled and no searches also. Still curious as to why i can only search when i first log on. BTW if people are looking for kazza lite go to kazzalite.com (easy enough Web based searches work fine like audiogalaxy but they are down. Should i add firewall settings to kazaa? I contacted Time warner over net chat and the exact answer i got was "i dont know, is there anything else i can help you with"

I don’t know if this with help you Dunkan but I use the spy ware free iMesh and Gnucleus with almost no problems on roadrunner. Despite what others might say I know the problem has to be with roadrunner. I have no doubt they are some how blocking ports in my area. I’m not the first person to have this problem here in Austin area. Apparently they have spread their test blocking of ports out as far as your area. If you know anyone else in the San Antonio area with similar problems please ask them to post here. For the longest time most roadrunner users thought the problems I was having were just with my computers configuration. I would be great full if more people who are having this problem would post in hopes we might get a straight answer out of roadrunner one way or the other.

I also believe they are port blocking...I try to Play Unreal Tournament online with RR and during peak hours my pings are 500+.Road runner says there is no problem if I can connect to the internet

Are you using the latest version of Kazaa? Grumpy I would explain to the people you speak with at RR that network connectivity is composed of two performance indicators, one being bandwidth and the other being latency. And then go on to explain how there are many other ISP's that will provide you with high bandwidth low latency connection that you need for an enjoyable broadband experience.

Does RoadRunner take pains advertise "online gaming" in their commercials and marketing? I know Comcast does where I live. You might be able to threaten legal action for false advertising, if the product does not live up to RR's claims.

About RR blocking ports. I have it on a very good inside source that if you call and notify them that blocking ports 1214 or anyports for that matter violates their service agreement, they will remove the blocked port. Up until 2 months ago, my area was also effected by this blocking of port, but once they were called on this, they removed the block. Some of the workers there think its a power-trip thing but it totally violates their claims. I know that there are still areas that are blocking this port and they must be called on this. I hope this helps everyone out. My advice to all is that you call them asap and complain about it. If this doesn't work then tell them that you will have to resort to legal actions.

Later all,
NiTrO
