 | Sucking more than Moose Balls... I agree with the points here, and would like to add a couple others... Since $$$ is ALWAYS the motivator with the RIAA, what they fail to realize is that it is above all else - their ATTITUDE of arrogance and political correctness that gets me. I can hear them now... "How dare these miscreants STEAL from US!" If they really want a proven way to make money, I refeer them to the one and only - Microsoft. Why?
Anyone remember how Microsoft got such widespread usage? Yep - by pirated copies of DOS and Windows, not to mention Office... Look at Bill Gates now! Holy cow! If the RIAA stopped FEARING the future and became a part of it, they might just change their minds and thank P2P.
The point the RIAA should make is that an MP3 is a great 'teaser', as the sound quality is less than a normal CD, unless you have some ungodly sized 320-bit MP3. If we, as users can accept a less than ideal (MP3) copy ovet the real deal, then who are we to complain? The point of QUALITY comes to mind - get what ya pay for - right?
I think instead of shoving an entire CD down our throats, they should sell fully legimate songs online for $1.00/each. Then they could give the artists, who really need that extra million ANYWAY... a percentage of those royalties.
Look, I went to high school in Seattle with Stoney Gossard (Pearl jam fame). Loved those lunchtime jams... The whole point of being an artist is expression, and recognition of your talents, with money as a bonus. If you have the talent, you will be rich.
Why does the RIAA have to bee so greedy? Just think of where they are based - California. Spoiled rotten by their age old ways, who would want to change? Instead, the RIAA plants viruses on our computers via P2P, and harrassed (potentially) by our ISP's? Conceited, spoiled, and don't want to WORK for their money, only to take it from you then claim it is YOUR fault they can't buy that new Mercedes for their daughter. Wait - isn't that what is happening in the telco industry? OMG - I am on the wrong thread...
