I am using Lancity modem and find that my upload is always 300+ whereas my download is from 500K to 1600K, depending on the time (my speedtest from nyc speedtest)! I guess Rogers cannot cap the upload of Lancity modem, but Lancity is the oldest cable modem so the download speed seems to be slower than other modems. Indeed, I am a rogers new user and could not believe that they gave me the oldest modem, maybe many people cancelled rogers so there were a lot of old modem left!

Well I have had a lot of experiences with the rogers' modems, I have had both terayons and an RCA, now I am with an ericsson, and personally I favor the ericsson, so much more features, ability to check modem levels and to lock the modem, so certain people can't access the net.

I would have to agree with Green. I currently have the Ericsson, I used to have both Terayons. My favourite is the Ericsson. I've had no problems with it so far and it looks way better than the big and ugly Terayon!

BTW, pics of the modem are also welcome. I will post a pic of my Ericsson once I get my digi cam exchanged tomorrow.

I have the big ol black Terayon TeraPro TCM100, I've had it for 4 years now, originally supplied by Shaw. I honestly think this modem rocks, I used to have 10mbit down and 1mbit up speeds with it, and full duplex connection with Shaw. Only when Rogers came, they reconfigured and messed everything up, the connection has been half duplex since, and my problems started then. On Shaw I used to host 32player quake2 games for high speed folks and they had all under 50 pings. I thought about trying to get Rogers to switch me to a Docsis compliant modem, but I don't know how to go about it.... Do I just fry this one, say it broke and hope they give me a Docsis? or should I request one when I return it? or it might sound fishy to them?

DOCSIS may not be the solution to all your problems, just ask skillton.

Depends on your line etc, but you are right, if your line is messed, and it really isnt the modem, you shouldn't bother switching.

Thats th modem alright, are your sure the pipeline is docsis? I have the piperider HM200c as you can see. Sorry for the bad picture, I was tired, had no time to make it look nice, or focus it properly.

So fry it with some juicy 120V AC house current... I did it to a friend's modem a few years ago when Rogers wouldn't replace it... They had no choice then...hehehe.

That's a very awkward position, your PipeRider must be uncomfortable!

I saw Television2k's pic of the blue PipeRider and like I said, it looks funky. I would rather have the blue one so then it would match my Linky!
