Dallas option to Sprint Biz

I still haven't received the definite 'your Biz dsl is going to be cancelled' email or letter. The first email only said 'there will be changes, some decomissioned'. I'm waiting.

August.net
Meanwhile, for Dallas area users, there is a local ISP that offers mo-to-mo plans. In about 3 months they will offer the Bell 4M/384K plan for $109/mo plus ISP charge. At present they offer a 1.5/256 plan for $60 plus ISP. The ISP charge depends on the data transfer level you pick. They are highly rated with great tech support. New orders are installed in around 8 days!!

I've made several calls, including to a supervisor in sales at SBIS, and there's no telling when the 4M plan will be offered by SBIS. She told me not until next year, but who knows.

There are several ISPs still offering the 1.5/768 Worldcom plan, but since WC announced it was filing, I don't have confidence in that dsl plan lasting.

Apparently, it's strictly a marketing issue whether an ISP chooses to offer the Bell 4M/384 plan. It's available now at Bell dslams.

Users in markets other than Dallas might check with local ISPs to see who is offering the 4M plan from Bell.

FWIW

Read up on ADSL2 coming in 2003. I am quite sure that Sprint will take care of your current service. They said it will be "new and improved".
Don't pull the plug yet.

haha, they (sprint) will be snatched up by a baby bell before ADSL2 ever goes public...either that or market the product so that no one knows about it

AgentX doesn't seem to understand that some people entrust their livelihood (businesses) on Internet access. And with Sprint constantly playing games with their services (and people's livelihood), they're getting fed up and can't trust that Sprint will do ANYTHING and stay committed to it.

Perhaps Sprint WILL come out in 2003 with ADSL2, but who says they're going to stay committed to providing that service to their customers? Going by their recent track record, I'd say the odds are they won't and people will be screwed again.

As the saying goes... Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me.... Anyone for a third time???

Sprint will be re-selling another provider. They will not need to stay committed. You should be serviced by Covad, and they shine when it comes to service. There will not be much for Sprint to do, other than collect your funds.

208,

I just finished speaking with a supervisor in Sprint Biz customer service and she told me all 8M circuits will be terminated on Sept. 16. They request that we find alternate service by the end of August.

There is no option for Dallas. But she did say that other areas will be offered the option of a 1.5 circuit. I guess that's what you're talking about?

I also had the Sprint ION Xt1 package, It was the best dsl service ive EVER had, hands down. Now im with SHITTY Verizon DSL, what else is out there that even COMPARES to the ION speeds at the price. Or is sprint got anything coming soon that will be an alternative to Ion. In addition i got to keep the ION modem so im sure thats probably worth .. some.. money

Looks to me like Sprint is getting out of the DSL market other than reselling Covad services (1.5/384) and local ILEC DSL service. By all appearances, Sprint is now focusing their feeble marketing and business strategies on 3G services. Only time will tell how much money they'll invest in that effort before pulling out and leaving customers stranded again.

Zip, zilch, nada $$$... Those hubs, from my understanding at least, where proprietary to Sprint ION and Biz service. And since those services are either now or becoming extinct, the hubs are useless other than performing paper-weight or door-stop duties.
