Oh my....please read...

I always thought of my self as a lite user, that I would never go over 5 Gb in a month, I have proven my self wrong, I downloaded netstat live about 3 or 2 days ago, and this is the result, What am I going to do, in 3 or 2 days I have went over 8 GB. Can browsing and the odd mp3's and movies kill me? *What will I do?* Where will I turn when the implement caps...oh my.

Same here..I use a lot of bandwidth also. I guess I need at least 30 Gb upload and download a month.

Well, even when you're downloading the "odd" movie, don't they run upwards of 600 megs? I do a lot of browsing, not much downloading, and come nowhere near 5 Gigs a month. If you did 8 already, you're doing more than just browsing.

I use 15gb a month now with my rogers lite. Don't worry it's not enforced. I remember reading in their policy about a year ago and said some shit about 5gb cap. About 6 months ago I had the 3000/384 cap of rogers and I used to use around 60gb bandwidth a month downloading mp3s movies and games.

That is not 8GBytes its only 8Gbits. That is much less. Don't have time to figure it out but its note more than 1GB I think

8Gb = 1GB
8 bits = 1 byte?

Not only do we download movies and listen to mp3, we also send programs, movies , some cds, mp3 to our friends which also upload to the web. Therefore, upload should be as many as download.(-_-)!
P.S: I (Feel) that it is not measured in KBits.but in Kbytes

Correction: "as important as" not "as many as"

It is kilobits. Try doing what Jbcalg said. You will see its only 1GB that you have downloaded

I got a question about hi-speed lite

Well you see I really don't have the money for Rogers hi-speed after my $20 a month went up. So I went to hi-speed light do to money constraints. Someone told me that I could uncap my modem which would increase my downloading speeds. It's a lancity modem so if anyone knows anything about this you could email me at bigjason_123@hotmail.com and give me some advise. I would really appreciate it.

Uncaping a modem is completely illegal and could end up with you in court. It is hard, if not impossible to do. The risk isn't worth the temporary gains. (And they would be temporary, as they would notice that you were downloading more than should be possible on your connection.)

There are numerous articles on the internet for people caught doing this.

Lancity modems can't be uncapped anymore anyway, as I understand it. It used to be possible, but that problem was fixed.
