LOL, and why would that be the case. If you put the exact same number of people on a Terayon CMTS and a Cisco CMTS, and configured them identically, you would get the exact same ping times and download speeds. Guys your ping times and download speeds have absolutely nothing to do with what kind of modem you have. Rather it has everything to do with how the headend is configured and how many people are on your line cards. Remember a ping is a combination of the time to get to the destination and back, so if either side is crowded your ping times will be slow.
The reason that right now people are getting better speeds with DOCSIS is because there are less people on them. If everyone went out and got a DOCSIS modem then the ping times would be just as horrid.
So for now, DOCSIS is better than a Terayon, Motorola or Lancity modem, but 6 months down the road it will be the exact opposite.
