Competitive choices list

Ok, we're all out looking around for "higher than average" DSL or other broadband services. Let's list them in this thread. (And maybe the Sprint / Covad marketing / sales teams can read even if they can't count.)

Please include, when possible:
Download speed (if not 1.5Mbits/sec or higher, don't bother)
Upload speed (if not 384 kbits/sec or higher, don't bother)
Static IP only
No known port blocks
Known areas of service
If known, ping times to DSLreports West and DSLreports East.

PacBell Business service

Same as residential, above, except there's a special going on:
For a limited time only, get 1.5Mbps - 6Mbps / 384Kbps speed Pacific Bell Enhanced DSL Internet access service, regularly $179.95 per month, with router included in monthly price for only $74.95 per month for the first 90 days. Then pay only $159.95 per month--you save $20 each month--for remaining 15 months.

Available for Business customers only. Monthly pricing includes GSP charges; pricing does not include charges for your regular telephone service. Applicable taxes and surcharges not included. Billing will begin when we have activated your service on our network. Special Router Offer requires an 18-month term agreement; a $450 early cancellation charge applies if service is cancelled in months 0 to 12, and a $200 early cancellation charge applies if service is cancelled between months 13 and 18. Within the first 90 days, customer has the option to migrate to Enhanced Up to 1500 (192Kbps - 1.5Mbps / 128Kbps) and remain at the $74.95 monthly rate throughout the 18-month term commitment. Customer will NOT be billed a migration fee for this downgrade. Router included even if customer has existing router in place.

Re: Competitive choices list

Please note a cheaper way to get to the SBC/Pacbell etc. 6mb dl/ 384k ul service. I recently called and setup the lower speed enhanced service max dl 1.5mb and 128k ul on a month to month basis for $65/mo with the only install fee being the $99 modem. Activation etc were waived. I then upgraded to the higher speed service($179/mo as I do not have business phone service and therefore do not qualify for the business promotion indicated in this thread) for no additional fee. Pretty good deal other than the ridiculously high monthly rate. I'm going to probably keep that until the rumored new plans come out from SBC. My install was completed in just 5 days.

Cable events evolving

If you are operating a home office, cable is an alternative in some areas. But the service / usage policies are changing along with the bandwidth charges.

AT&T Broadband limits 1.5Mbs down/ 256kbs up in parts of LA area. Pricing in LA is $42 per month, but new tiered pricing is expected "any day now." Dynamic IP. Tiered price of 3Mb down/ 384kbs up expected at about $80 per month. Some ports are blocked in some areas (esp port 80 into customer).

For 1.5/768 Worldcom dsl

ISPs are Cyberonic, Britsys, and Dsli...maybe others. Cyberonic has a mo-to-mo deal and the lowest price of $49/mo. The others require a year contract. Both Britsys and Dsli have tech people that respond to questions in the Worldcom forum.

Re: Speakeasy/WorldCom ADSL

This SpeakEasy 1.5/768 with 2 ip's for $99 seems like the best deal around for those who want a decent upstream speed.

Do they block/hijack any ports ?

Nope. I'm running a couple of web, email, FTP and VPN servers. They don't block any ports.
