anon posted : Hi guys. I just got my ADSL line last nite and I can't seem to get higher then 6kbps on donkey. My average speed on Kazza and normal web downloads are from 35kbps to near 40kbps. I'm on WinME and the only tweak I have done is cablenut, which i have set to ADSL-Normal settings. My ADSL is 512k (384dl/128ul). I've tried various settings on donkey but they are all the same and the files that I download are of high availability (according to sharereactor). BTW, I am from Malaysia. Any clues???

Thanks.

This file makes it so that the home page inside the edonkey program is the Sharereactor home page. It makes things nice and easy. This html version can be edited to make the homepage any address you like. So, if your favorite edonkey site is somewhere else you can make that be the homepage instead. I've tested it on versions 59, 60, and 61 and it works great.

Here's the link to Clam's page...

»clamutils.cjb.net/
[text was edited by author 2002-08-27 16:44:48]

With these setting, it doesn't effect my d/l speed at all, and i am also able to websurf, etc, with no problems. if you have a high u/l speed, setting it with this rule can only help everyone out.

Close eDonkey and start it again.

To help get those ports open, you can try Analog X's Port Mapper here:

Also, Windows 98 is limited on how many connections it can handle. To help with that, check this out:
Even so - Windows 98 will crash if it makes too many connections.

There are some commands you can give eDonkey if you're curious or bored :)
In the bottom you can type:

vu (enter) to view uploads
vq (enter) view upload queue
vp (enter) view connections to other clients

Lastly - Don't expect to get blazing download speeds on rare files.

[text was edited by author 2002-07-26 11:51:16]

eDonkey Guide For ALL (REVISED)

WildGod posted : So much has happened with the Donkey I felt it was time to revise the guide.

SETTING UP THE DONKEY

First off you need to d/l the donkey
Get it here:
eDonkey

Install the donkey, make sure to choose NOT to install UCMORE when prompted for install selection as seen in FIGURE 1.

Next you should configure your donkey.
Start up your donkey and click OPTIONS.

Under User Name choose any name you like
Under Max Download Speed (A) take your advertised broadband speed and divide it by 8
In other words if your advertised d/l speed is 768 your download speed for the donkey would be 768/8 which would equal 96
So A = 96

Your max upload speed (B) will automatically be established by the donkey after you fill in your d/l speed and close out of options. For 96 d/l you will probably get 10 u/l.

Line Speed down (C) in my opinion should be set to the same as (A) so in this case it would be 96.

Put Incoming Files and Put Temporary Files will have automatic defaults, you can change them to whatever you like but must do it before starting any downloads.

Max Connections should be set between 2500 and 5000, try different combinations and see what you get. I usually keep mine at 4500.

The only options which should be UNCHECKED in the top right are :
Save corrupt files
Verbose

Now click ok and you done.

SERVERS

The key to the donkey is to keep it well fed
Here are two sites to update your servers:
»ocbmaurice.dyns.net/pl/slist.pl
»www.esel-paradies.de/
Delete the existing servers in your donkey and update them with the links above. There is ADD ALL feature on both sites which will add all the available servers on that list.

Other places to find servers and server utilities are :
»bse.doesntexist.org/
»www.ed2kutils.de.vu/

THE ALMIGHTY LINKS

Now the donkey by itself is okay as a P2P but if you want to have the best P2P (IMHO) based on ease, file availability as well as knowing that you will get what you want and you want get fake or incomplete or stripped copies of whatever your d/l'ing (as you find on Kazaa and Winmx) then you have to combine the donkey with one of these linking sites:

ShareReactor
FileNexus
Horror
Sycamore Project (Lots of link sites)
Nixed-HQHorror
Ampster
The Donga
PussyProvider (for all your porno needs) ļ
eDonkey Guide
Exchanger Downloads
CD Freaks
SharecomUK
AMED2K (for Asian Movies)
WXP
MrHussein's eDonkey Startseite
CityzenX
Movielist
CosmoED2K
eDonkey2000 Movie Page
eDonkey Links
Black Sounds (for your rap album needs)
More Music Links
Divx Music Videos
The Hardway
Baraddur (TV Rips)
Esellinks (games)

Most of these sites also have very helpful forums and links to other sites which are also very helpful.

FAIR WARNING
Most of these sites are loaded with popups so get a popupstopper if you dont have one.
My favorite popup stopper is Free Surfer.
Very easy to use and can be set to different levels of strictness. It lists the numbers of the part.met files against the original filenames as well as sizes, bytes transferred, format and part name. It will copy out and rename part files (one at a time) for previewing in a separate folder, when you select a file from the list and click on the "View" button. The file is posted below.

eDonkey Bot-Check out TravisB's eDonkey Bot Guide

Recovermet- "This is a tool for eDonkey2000 that re-creates x.part.met files that have been lost or set zero size after a crash. Obviously, this only works if the x.part file in your temp folder survives. Only those 9MB blocks will be saved which have been fully downloaded, but you'll be able to continue your download. The tool tries to find the best match from information stored." The file is posted below.

Donkey Doctor- This tools intention is repairing part-files. The file is posted below.

SOME TIPS

**Visit the Sharereactor and Filenexus forums. You can request releases and will also find tons of stuff not shown on their main pages

**You should defrag the drive where your temp d/l files from eDonkey reside. It will help the Donkey hash your files faster. eDonkey hashes files which allows it to recognize only genuine files and not just files which are falsely named.

**Sometimes when d/l files you get to the very end and it will stop d/l. This can be very annoying. Heres the trick. You can do either of these: right click on the file, pause the d/l, wait a minute and then resume the d/l, or you can shut the donkey down and start it up again.

**ALWAYS read the .info files.

**Delete all servers which are inactive and use the Maurice Server listed above to get new ones.

As I think of more I will continue to add. Also fell free to post anything I may have missed.

Id like to give credit for some of the above info to Storm64007, XninjajuggaloX, BuzzB2K, IronWalker, Somebodeez, TKE 711, El Scorcho, Dumwaldo, xxnoelziexx
and Araina. If I missed anyone I am sorry, not on purpose. Give these guys thumbs up.

Again, feel free to post anything I have missed so we have one complete eDonkey guide.
--
AOL DSL SUCKS ** Time to try eDonkey ** eDonkey Guide**eDonkey Search Engine

[text was edited by author 2002-07-26 22:14:03]
<TABLE WIDTH=95% align=center border=0 CELLPADDING=4">
